Free Music Notes for 1 Giant LeapFree Music Review: Music for the soul Hit: 5 Stars
Catto and Bridgeman and so, so clever. An intelligent mastering of world music, One Giant Leap is a bold movement for music, and people. A wonderful selection of artistes from the world over, singing songs "my grandfather earned... for [our] culture". A stunning album with lots of heart. Expect ethnic percussions, haunting sirens, modern pop/rock, unique instruments, and a beautiful fusion of the differences that make music and life so perfect. A product with so much character, you'd almost feel you've met, personally, each and every of the artistes and musicians.
Free Music Review: Total enjoyment Hit: 5 Stars
To come across a cd where every cut is either a great or a totally amazing musical creation is rare--and this one has it. This is music to simply enjoy--uncluttered, expansive, moving and fun. You don't have to listen to it 10 times to find out whether its worth listening to. You don't need a degree in esoteric musicology to find value here. If you like this genre, just buy iT and enjoy. And if you are not sure, buy it and open yourself to new forms of musical expression. Its been my best find in 2 years.
Free Music Review: Making a Giant Leap Hit: 5 Stars
I had heard only Robbie Williams with 1 Giant Leap, and for this reason copied the CD, and had no information of who was on it,names of songs or even the title of the album. This is the most insightful collection of songs sure to appeal to the widest of audences due to the unusual - and extremely successful - mix of styles. The album has the ability to be there as background music, or listen to the lyrics and harmonies, and add to your experiences of another culture. One of the best to have in your collection.
Free Music Review: Everyone I know will get this as a gift from me... Hit: 5 Stars
It's simply wonderful in both concept and execution. Captured me on the first listen, and does the same to literally everyone I play it for. For those intimidated by 'world music,' this is a great primer - an introduction to some major artists and sounds... And for anyone else, it's something you'll be thrilled to add to your collection - the one you will turn to when nothing else is quite doing it for you. I'm going to give this as a gift to anyone I can, for any reason - or no reason.
Free Music Review: Electronica to a Religous Scale Hit: 5 Stars
I don't know if I've ever heard more beautiful music before in my life. "1 Giant Leap" lives up to their name, combinding the organic and spiritual elements of tribal chanting with electronic beats, creating a more than ambient, but not quite techno vibe, and in essence, creating their own genre. For fans of Moby, "I Giant Leap" is a must have. Check out the dialogue before track six and also my favorite track, "my culture".
