Free Music Review: excellent album of early nineties alterna-pop

I lost this album. I just found it again and I'm glad. I listened to it a lot at the end of high school, and it brings back a sort of adolescent feeling - in a good way. It sounds cheesy but the word that comes to mind about it is stirring. It's dark and light and powerful at the same time. A little brooding, like in "Noah's Dove" or "Stockton Gala Days." There's yearning and freedom in it. It's the best Maniacs album I have. It's doesn't beat the politically correct Bible, either - like "In My Tribe" (still great - but you have the anti-war song, the anti-child abuse song, the anti-illiteracy song, etc... Oh, come off it, Natalie) or Blind Man's Zoo, which is decent. Altogether it's more personal, fundamental and beautiful.. A classic in my mind.
