I got this album while on a road trip from lawndale (california) to Olympia (washington). Upon first listen I fell in love. All the songs are so thoughtfully written that you can't help but relate to everything they say, and the melody is so intoxicating it'll take your breate away with each chorus. This is a great album for the road, cuz it helps you reflect on life while driving down an empty highway, staring at the rain drops on your window.
Kryptonite...First single, everyone's heard it, and a great song 4/5
Loser...The lyrics in this one are insanely deep. I know I've felt like this MORE THAN ONCE, and hearing it come from someone else is incredible 10/5
Duck and Run...Another song with great lyircs; "This world can't turn me down, and I won't turn away, I won't Duck and Run, cuz' I'm not built that way, when everything is gone and there's nothing left to feel, this world cannot bring me down, cuz I am already here" 5/5
Not Enough...Awesome, but not my favorite 4/5
Be Like That...If you thought they couldn't top "loser"...you were right...but this comes pretty close 5/5
Life On My Own...Catchy Chours, but not the greatest 3.5/5
Better Life...Title Track, awesome song 4/5
Down Poison...Chorus; "Welcome to my world she said, do you feel alive she said, its all a bad dream spinning in your lonely head, down poison". Take those words and put them to beautifully melodic music, and you have a 3dd masterpiece 5/5
By My Side...Great song, but not as good as down poison 4/5
Smack...A Faced paced catchy chorus makes this another awesome song to add to the list of 3dd Greatest Hits 4/5
So I need You...Beautful song, and a great way to close the album 5/5
This is an Incredible Debut for a band that should be proud of their later success. If you've already gotten "Away from the Sun" and are thinking about getting this, I say go for it. Its worth every penny...

The Mississippi natives deliver a great album with some classic tracks. They sold big locally in the south but "Kryptonite" created a huge buzz and got them a major label deal and a nomination for song of the year. This album is strong all the way through and is a must have for alternative music fans, I'm a lot more of a rap fan but I love this cd. They have songs on here that you can really "feel" and relate to, and they do it well.

Free Music Review: 3 Doors Down Rocks Hard on Debut CD

3 Doors Down is an awesome rock band whose roots are in Mississippi. There aren't many bad parts to this CD. There are alot of amazing guitar riffs and awesome vocals that perfectly flow smoothly with the music of this band. The CD contains the hits Kryptonite, Loser, Duck & Run, and Be Like That. All of the other songs could have been hits too, if only they would have been released as singles. If you are thinking of buying this CD you definitely should. It's a pretty good CD, especailly for the days when I want something that sounds a bit softer -- not that loud and noisy with all the screaming. The music is pretty good, and the lyrics are definitely well written.
They actually remind me a lot of Matchbox Twenty, but that's just me.
