Free Music Review: Honest and earnest, but also slicked up

I bought OWOS when it was released. I enjoy this CD, it has an honesty and earnestness that I find haunting, inviting and wonderful, like a bestselling novel. I also have BLOC, and the progression from that to OWOS is notable. OWOS seems "slicked up" with more variety of studio musicians, recording artistry, etc. Painted Veil is my favorite ballad on this one, What's Her Name is great with the harmonica, and Folsom Prison Blues reminds me of some great old times at country rock shows. But, what is unique to the CD, is Mission Beat. It's hard to explain, but definitely worth the cost of the CD. Mission Beat picks up my spirits after a long day at work, keeping the beat to the complex rhythms while commuting home in the traffic. This CD is already a new favorite. It has the same feel as BLOC with a great folk/country/rock/ blend and some awesome guitar work. The TOFOG lyrics continue to be inspiring with plenty of edge. The stand-outs are Never Be Alone Again (great duet with Chrissie Hynde), Inside Her Eyes (you can feel the struggle) and Swallow My Gift which can't be adequately described, but must be experienced. Listening to Folsom Prison Blues made me wish I was at the concert in Texas, sounds like it was one hell of a party.Free Music Review: OWOS GREAT!

I am very disappointed with this cd- i enjoy, Russell Crowe singing and acting. Why is it, that this is the first time,i have been disappointed in buying a cd from company. On the back of cd-there are listed 15 tunes- number 14- farm noises is not noted as being played- but, i neither hear tune 13 or 15.. One of all,i am interestedin hearing is FOLSOM PRISON BLUES. WHEN I PHONED AMAZON- THEY SAID- THAT THERE WAS NO FOLSOM PRISON BLUES- AS THE LAST TUNE- OR NOT INCLUDED AT ALL- THAT FARM NOISES IS THE LAS TUNE- NO SOUNDTRACK- WHY IS THIS CD- BEING MISREPRESENTED.Free Music Review: I'll give Russell a little credit...

I didn't enjoy this CD as much as "Bastard Life," but I still have to give Russell Crowe kudos for writing his own stuff. Extra kudos for the cover of "Folsom Prison."
