Free Music Notes for Bastard Life Or ClarityFree Music Review: Grunts Rock! Hit: 5 Stars
This is an exciting album! Wistful melodies, bring on the medal rock, a hint of zydeco, belted out ballads with a touch of gaelic for depth on one song. Each song has a story. They are all different. But the journey through the CD is wonderful and complete! I love the fact that these guys play an assortment of "styles" of music. And all done really well! How they sound on the CD is how they sound live! Their music is what it is-pure unadulterated guitars, drums and horn. Sung from the heart, played from the heart. A talented group of guys!
Free Music Review: Loving the trumpet! Hit: 5 Stars
Yes, the reason I bought this CD was because it was Russell Crowe. I had seen him the night before singing "Sail Those Same Oceans" on Jay Leno's show. Instantly loved it. I ordered it the next day. I absolutely love the trumpet. I don't know how else to say it, the trumpet was the selling point for me. I now know the whole CD by heart. I have a hard time picking a favorite song but I guess "Memorial Day" would be one of my top picks. If you like the trumpet and good music you will like this CD.
Free Music Review: good music, good lyrics equals a great album! Hit: 5 Stars
I admit, I found TOFOG via a an interview with its lead singer, Russell Crowe. That being said, this album rocks! TOFOG is a musically tight band, made up of great musicians. Crowe's lyrics and throaty singing style, add to enhance this album's appeal. The songs range from ballad's to hard rock but each tells a story, unique unto itself. This album will grab you each time you listen to it and will not let you go. I highly recommend this album to anyone who likes Dave Gray, Warren Zevon, The Pat McGee Band.
Free Music Review: Amateurs yes, but who cares! Hit: 5 Stars
This album is done with love, there is no doubt about that. Its not great in the sense that the music or lyrics is perfected or even remotely professional. But I loved it anyway! Who would have thought that a guy who spends his carer speaking other peoples words actually had this much to say. The music makes me feel good. It is also a great promise for the future. After all this is only their first real album, and Russell Crowe is notorious for perfecting his talents so I eagerly wait for the sequel!
Free Music Review: Wonderful, rocking, beautiful music! A TOTAL SURPRISE! Hit: 5 Stars
I'm a big enough Russell Crowe fan to squander [money]on this -- and I'm glad I did. Melodic, folk/rock (if you loved the Replacements, you'll love this). It's just plain good music, no frills. Crowe and all his bandmates are able musicians and this is one of my favorite CDs. And yes, I own thousands of CDs. In fact, this is one of the few time I've ever cared enough to write a review! If you buy this, you might have these in your collection: Tom Petty, mid-era Beatles, and Lou Reed's "Transformer."
