Well I recently wrote a review for this spectacular record. I think that they tossed it because I cursed. Only I used a star instead of a letter. Well anyways, I absolutely adore this group. I recently discovered that the singer in this band is Jared Leto (Urband Legend, My So Called Life) It's hard to believe such talent and such a voice comes from this young actor. Well, hey I give him koodo's. Anyways, this band. Man. IT ROCKS. I rented the movie The Core about a month ago, and at the end of the film, there was this beautiful song that I got instantly hooked on. I kept rewinding it to hear the song over and over, and in the credits I saw the bands name, 30 Seconds to Mars. This awesome song is called Echelon. It's very unique. So I went and bought their CD and couldnt believe my ears. I was so impressed. (That being an understatment.) They are talented. Not like anything you've ever heard. I felt like I discovered a new band, (not hearing about them from trl or mtv. They have genuine talent that no band can copy) I played it to my friend and she said "Wow, they're really cool. I cant even think of any group that sounds like them. " That obviously reflects their originality. The lyrics are well thought out, and like that one dude said, the songs beg the listener to discover what they are really saying. They use metaphors. I read alot of reviews, and most people gave this CD 5 stars, but others, like 5 people, had the same complaints. It was either, they suck live, or their songs are too repetative. First off, give them a break. They are pretty much new to this stuff. Making a live show the best ever takes YEARS of practice and experience. It's hard to perform the perfect show with the noise, and chaos, and a howling hard to please crowd. No band is perfect. It doesnt mean Jared cannot sing. That's his voice on the album, and recording it in the studio isnt cheating. No machine can make your voice sound like that. The guy obviously took voice lessons. Many band singers merely screach and yell and kids think it's so cool. But Jared can sing. He proves it. I highly recommend buying this CD people. Yes, there is a space futuristic theme going on, but it's more than that. You gotta open your mind. Am I the only one not brainwashed these days. Well overall the CD rocks. And the repetition in the songs makes it fun to sing along. It isn't a put you to sleep, make you sick of the CD, kind of repetition. I've been listening to this CD over and over and I'm not bored with it in the least. I own over 200 CD's and this is my fav. That's a rare thing for me, to have a fav cuz I listen to everything almost. I also played this album to my friend's boyfriend. I only played him ONE SONG, and he said "Whoa I like this! What it this! Are the other songs like this one." ? Indeed people, it has it's own style which is a dam rare thing nowadays. Sadly, I doubt you'll ever see this band on TRL, MTV, or the radio. Which is good. Cuz people like Britney Spears uses her sex to sell music. She cant sing! There is so much talent out there. Not everything can be played on the radio. But I think this band needs to be acknowledged. Spread the word people. I think only one time I was listening to a song on this CD and it reminded me of Tool when Jared hit a high note. So if you like tool, or Onesidezero you'll like 30 Seconds to Mars. Own this work of art! You wont be disappointed. Track # 9 gives me chills. I love this CD. I love every song on it. Which is also extremely rare for me. It's SO AWESOME!!! Most rock bands sound the same. So girls and guys, rock fans, pop fans, buy this CD. I like rock, but so many bands copy each other and it makes it hard to like one particular band. But this band is truly unique. They stand out. Get it!p.s. Listen to the audio clips. Keep in mind it's only a 30 second sample. It doesnt do the song justice, but notice how he sings in each song. Wow a rock band that actually sings, instead of screaming. And u can hear all the different instruments while he is singing. It's cool and the chorus's are fun and addicting to sing along to. Ok I have talked way too much. Sorry I just love this band. It contains everything I look for in a rock band. It got 5 stars, so I was pleased to see that others too can recognize true talent in such a brainwashed society.
