Free Music Review: 311's first step on a downward spiral

this was their commercial breakthrough album, but it doesn't hold a candle to their GOOD albums (music and grassroots). all mixed up... down... etc... nothing special when heard next to "omaha stylee", "lucky", "homebrew"... this was 311's first indication of their going in the unfortunate direction that led them to make "transistor", which was watered down and awful. glad they were able to cash in, but their music definitely suffered after grassroots.

Okay I Don't Know What that one guy was thinking when he gave the album 1 star. This is clearly one of 311's best albums. Songs like Down, Hive, Loco, and Don't Stay Home are awesome songs with awesome lyrics. I can't wait till the "Evolver" album hits the shelves. Wow when I heard all these great things about 311 from friends,radio,etc I finally went out and bought a few of them that I could find. From Chaos,311,and Music. Alot of the fans hate to hear them classified as rap/rock but thats exactly what they are. They same generic bull that you hear on the radio most of the time. These guys do indeed have talent I will admit that but the cheesiness of the lyrics in their songs just completly bring down the credibilty of the band. After listening to the first song of the album I couldn't take anymore I threw the cd down to the floor wanting to step on it. I took all three cds back to the store where they belong in the barbain bin section where I found them.Free Music Review: The definitive rock abulm

wow... that word pretty much sumarizes this whole album after you finish listening to it. to describe the sounds of this album, it rocks hard, and is honestly some of the most adrenaline pumping music i've ever heard. it's almost like living in a 311 world where you experience the vibrations of their amazing concerts. although, some of the better songs off of this cd are the slower and more melodic ones such as purpose, sweet, don't stay home, and all mixed up. all right, i realize that there are a lot of "Critics" out there who disrespect and badmouth 311. whats sad about these people is that they really don't have much to say other than, "I don't like 311, they suck." Usually people like this only listen to a song for about 15 to 20 seconds, then skip to the next one without ever really hearing the whole track from start to finish. i've watched some people do this and i'll ask, "why don't you just listen to the whole thing?" and they'll be like "why?" I'll just reply with a "Trust me" and then they'll go ahead and actually listen to the song they were just dissing.
whats funny is most of the time their opinion changes quite dramatically when they actually listen to the whole thing. i guess this is due to people's short attention spans or something. i guess 311 doesn't have much of a "pop" sound, and so therefore explains why many people who listen to them for the first time don't really get it, or don't even listen to the whole song.
so do yourself a favor if you ever listen to a 311 cd: Pop it in and push play...and don't push skip or stop until the cd comes to an end. pick up the lyric sheet and read along to the music if that helps the experience. TRUST ME, you will be surprised at how brilliant and talented 311 is. there's really no way to describe what they do to my senses every time i hear them. It's just pure bliss, and I'll never stop listening.

311 is by far the greatest band. they are all about their positivity and against racial probs. they are so down to earth and original with everything. maybe you should think before you say stuff ... just because you enjoy your gangster rap about killing ... and robbin stores. 311 promotes nothing but the essence of herb and to live a great life. i suggest that everyone listens to 311. i have and they are basically all i ever listen to. this album gets a definate 5 star rating and 2 thumbs up...
