Free Music Notes for Don't Tread on Me AlbumFree Music Review: 311 is back!!!!!!!! Hit: 5 StarsLet's face it, Evolver was just not up to the 311 standards. But with the new album Don't Tread on Me, 311 are back! There is really only one song I don't like on this entire cd! Here's a breakdown song by song:
1. Don't Tread on Me- Great first single and good opener. I love the short heavy section after SA's part(who by the way, just killed on this album). 9/10
2. Thank Your Lucky Stars- this was instantly a favorite of mine. It got a little old quick but I still love that chorus! 9/10
3. Frolic Room- Mark my words, This WILL be a huge hit. Just as Down was a big hit back in the day, this will be huge. And a lot of hardore 311 fans don't like this song because of that. Well, I still like the song. 8/10
4. Speak Easy- Amazing song. As I said earlier, SA owned this album. His voice is so much more improved from earlier albums (not that he had a bad voice). 10/10
5. Solar Flare- to all the people who always complain that they want old 311, here it is. Very reminiscent of Hydroponic. It talks about society like MTV and the government. This song took some time to grow on me. 8.5/10
6. Waiting- The only song I don't like on the cd. I don't know, it just sounds bland. There's nothing there. Sounds like a barbershop quartet. 5/10
7. Long for the Flowers- alright song. The instrumental for this song was an outtake for the Transistor sessions and its weird to hear it with vocals after hearing it as an instrumental for so long. 8/10
8. Getting Through to Her- Beautiful song. This is an SA-only song he does a great job. The intro on guitar is absolutely beautiful. 9.5/10
9. Whiskey and Wine- Oh what a great, chill song. I love it. Even Nick's raggae breakdown is pretty cool except for when he does the "Yayyy" parts and he sounds like he's yodeling. 9/10
10. Its Getting OK Now- Best track on the album. Another All SA song, but Nick and Tim tear it up on guitar. I love the riff where Tim throws in the metal pinches. 10/10
11. There's Always an Excuse- This sounds like a continuation of Sometimes Jacks Rule the Realm. And I guess this songs is pretty good. You kinda don't know what to expect with this one. Things come out of nowhere. Kudos to the guys for experimenting. 8/10
overall, this is 311's best album since From Chaos. I love almost every song on the cd.
