Free Music Review: Great New 311

In my opinion this is the best 311 album since soundsystem. all the songs on here flow and sound like they belong together on the album. Evolver on the other hand, (which was also great) had to many styles going on and was more expiermental than this album. DTOM is nice and tight delivering a compliation of songs that sound great. What I also noticed was how SA really stepped foward on this album, sounds liek theres more of him than Nick on this one..he also helped to write a couple songs on here. I also noticed the bass. This album has great grooving basslines as P-nut is more showcased in this album than the couple previous ones. Great job 311 on creating another classic.
top 3 tracks - long for the flowers, speak easy, it's getting OK now.
Free Music Review: 311 - Different, But Good Different

I was suprised to hear SA breaking into lead vocals in this CD.
I do enjoy the chill out 311 sound they have developed.
A lot of fans have to understand, bands mature as do people.
311's sound now is complimenting their 15 years in the business.
I've been a fan since 95, religiously.
I don't have bad things to say about SA singing more, but I do think there were times on the CD that Nick probably would have been a better choice. But I'm not the one who made the CD so I take it for what it is and enjoy it!
I would have liked a couple more tracks. I have a song called "Wandering Around" and I wonder why this song didn't make the CD. It is one of my favorites!
311 is still the one and only!

Well, I wasn't expecting 311 to make such awesome record after Evolver. Evolver really didn't do much for me overall, but it had some good moments.
Onto the review. Don't Tread On Me is definitely 311's most chill record to date, there's less rock and more reggae/pop. Nick and Sa's harmonising is amazing right the way through. They've made this album really unique. Most musicians can't do that, it's the same sound churned out album after album. In a music world of conformity, 311 have done something unique. It's an album I won't get sick of and every song is gold. It's just annoying that they only do an album every 2 years now. Hopefully they'll do another ETSD or something to keep us all going..

Free Music Review: Tightest 311 album in a while

I had most of the songs of this album in demo version, but I picked it up this morning (and got the limited edition vinyl, too). The album tracks blow away the demos, and this CD is really, really tight. If you like Music and some of the more old school 311 tunes (from the days of Dammit, Hydroponic, and Unity), you'll love this. It also has some of their newer, more chill, flair to it. Great mix of songs, well done, well produced. Maturity in music is expected, but they didn't try too hard to experiment as with Transistor. Can't wait to see them for the 16th time on the 19th in MA! No doubt this will be spinning in my car, home, etc...for about a month straight. If you're a 311 lifer, you won't be dissapointed.Free Music Review: Treading Can Be So Much Fun...

This album is not great, sorry not great its fabulous. It contains some great songs ie 'dont tread on me', 'thank your lucky stars' and 'speak easy' to mention a few, not only that but like most times after a new 311 album comes out, they have unleashed a quirky, different but awesome style.. so basically they have changed, once again. But this has 2 be the biggest style change of all their albums. Its great to hear something new and a style taken with a risk of maybe losing some 311 fans. Not me however, i still love em, but they have encouraged me to love them even more.. its that good from my perspective. A rated song list from me shall be out soon.. so watch out 311 fans.
