Free Music Notes for From ChaosFree Music Review: 311, I Believe Hit: 5 Stars
Over the past 10 years 311 has put out 6 albums, each one has explored the pure groove, soul, and power of music. From Chaos, has gone even further in that exploration. With songs like Amber and You wouldn't believe, 311 shows that an albulm can be in touch with all different styles and bring forth true soul. I truly don't understand how so called professional music critics can listen to any 311 CD and not realize what they are listening to. Songs that are written with technical expertise and innovation. I know of very few bands that have put out 6 albums that you can listen to start to finish with out hearing song that sounds the same. From Chaos, has kept that perfect record true. In today's music world, which is filled with untalented, regergitated bands, that you can't tell one from the other, 311 puts forth a sound that is like no other. A sound that is truly recognizable as their own. This review beyond giving praise to a great album, gives praise to a band that has truly been original, and will continue for many years to come. To all those who don't believe and can't hear the music, Sorry!
Free Music Review: If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up... Hit: 5 Stars
This album is pretty good. In some ways, it reminds me of Grassroots, which is, in my opinion, the definitive 311 album. I think it's the most experimental album I've heard since then. I've been a 311 fan since I first saw them back in '94 and I've always enjoyed their music. If you like 311 I'd definitely pick it up.On this album, I like "Wake Your Mind Up", "You Get Worked", and "Uncalm" the most right now. I do tend to like the more energetic songs. I've been listening to the whole album pretty much nonstop for the past few days. The more mellow songs like "Amber" and "I'll Be Here Awhile" seem to have a strong Hawaiian influence. This is one of the things I really like about 311. They're always tossing in some new styles. It's really progressive music. Most bands stay within very narrow areas that aren't very interesting, but 311 is constantly mixing and cross-fertilizing other areas. The only thing that disappoints me is that there's not enough of it, and I'll probably have to wait another year to hear anything new from them!
Free Music Review: "From Chaos Comes Clarity" and a New Beginning For 311 Hit: 5 Stars
On the new 311 album, From Chaos, the band shows through their music that they have sincerely returned to their roots with this awesome blend of styles that put 311 on the map. I believe this album is more solid than any other album, including Music and Grassroots, which are forever a staple in most 311 fans minds. While most bands grow musically to become either more hard and aggressive, or more mellow and soft, 311 shows in From Chaos that they can go both directions at once and do it so well. The aggressive songs like "You Get Worked", "Sick Tight", "Hostile Apostle", and "Wake Your Mind Up" show the band taking control again of the energy they possess. Songs such as "I Told Myself", "Champagne", "Amber", "Uncalm", and "I'll Be Here Awhile" give new light into the heart and sole of songwriters Nick Hexum and SA Martinez. Without a doubt, From Chaos is a must have for any music enthusiests. I dare anyone to give it a spin in their CD player and see if it ever comes out again.
Free Music Review: A mix of old school 311 with a new touch is a great thing... Hit: 5 Stars
I have been a 311 fan ever since "Down" came out as a single, but I also took the chance to try out their older stuff like Grassroots and Music and I love 311 ever since. I was hesitant to give "From Chaos" a shot due to the single "You Wouldn't Believe" because I thought that was just about the best the album could get...but I was glad I was wrong. There's a mix in this album, from hard core old school 311 rock (Sick Tight) to chilled back rock (Uncalm) to beautiful laid back melodies (Amber). My favorite song on this album is "Uncalm", with great lyrics and an unique tune. Classic 311 originality. I love the ENTIRE album, not just a couple songs out of the 12. It's pretty amazing how 311 has come back from their previous 2 albums (Transistor, Soundsystem), in which I thought were not as great as their old albums. BUY IT and get ready for a "HEADRUSH!" Don't forget to download 311's extra track "We Do It Like This" from the official 311 site, it's also a great song expressing how they progressed in their music and their originality.
Free Music Review: Probably Their Best! Hit: 5 Stars
I was in the CD store the other day and I saw 311's new CD at one of the listening stations so I decided to check it out. I was very surprised to find that the first three songs were all very good. I decided to listen to the whole thing all the way through. What I found was an eclectic mixture of great songs that I just loved. Just about every song on this CD is fun to listen to. There are only a couple of tracks that I don't like. One of the best aspects of "From Chaos" is that it is well-balanced. The first half of the CD is more hard rock than the second half. Starting with "Champagne" it starts to get more low-key and beautiful. All of the songs are so good that it is hard for me to choose a favorite. My favorite hard rock song is "uncalm" and my favorite mellow song is "Amber." So where does this CD place in all of the 311's albums? I'd say it's up there at the top with 311 or grassroots. It's a great album I would recommend it to anyone especially 311 fans. It is WELL worth your money!
