Free Music Notes for Grassroots

Free Music Review: 311 shows off in grassroots
Hit: 5 Stars

This cd is unbelievable every time you hear it, starting with the first time. They have so much talent and they really show it in grassroots. The songs are catchy, melodic, smooth, and get better every time you hear them. From Tim's solos, to S.A. and Nick's flows, to P-Nut's funky basslines, such as the ones on Nutsymptom, to Chad's rediculous changes in pace, this is their best by far. I highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates good music and musicianship. Definately worth your money. 311 doesn't get as much respect as they deserve. Support these guys, don't just download a few of their songs, or you'll be missing out. Every cd is innovative and in constant flux of styles. I can't wait for their new CD in 2003.

Free Music Review: Peanut, beat that thang
Hit: 5 Stars

This is definately a must for all 311 fans...it's overall upbeat feel is great for summertime car-pumpin. Some of my favorites are Omaha Stylee, 8:16, Applied Science, and Salsa. And to the "music fan" in Ohio who "listens to the radio alot," what makes this CD so awesome is that it's songs never WERE or ARE played on the radio...who wants to listen to overplayed and monotonous music on the radio all the time? This CD came out before all the hype with "Down" spread, and so it's cool to hear 311 before their success. Basically, this CD is something you should check out if you have any interest whatsoever in the band...you wont be disappointed.

Free Music Review: The Bands Peak
Hit: 5 Stars

I write this review switching CDs between bands like nile, immortal, arch enemy and borknagar, and i'll only write one 311 review because despite all the death metal they happen to be my favorite band. This CD and Music are 311 at their best, or at least when they were the most defined from other stuff out there. Honestly the more i get into black and death metal the more i appreciate 311, this is really chill music. and that is the best word. Grassroots is alot more groove-based than their other stuff, more core guitar and accent on drums and vocals. But of course still has great guitar like on homebrew and taiyed. Probably the most dependable CD i own, this is classic 311.

Free Music Review: If you haven't listened to this one, you're missin' out...
Hit: 5 Stars

I wouldn't say that I'm a "huge fan" and that I own all their albums (and I do) because I love them, but I dig their style, but not as much with the new stuff they're puttin' out. For anyone who's lookin' to buy their first 311 album forget "From Chaos" or "Soundsystem". I wouls strongly suggest that you go with 1."Grassroots", or 2."311" or self-titled, or "The Blue Album" whatever you wanna call it. I would say that it is definately better to start out with their older stuff, when they were more "Hard-core" I guess, though I hate to use the term.

Peace

Free Music Review: amazing album
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is tied as my favorite 311 album with Transistor. It's truly rare when a band releases a sophomore cd that's just as good (if not better) than their previous attempt. When I got this album, I listened to it every day for months on end. Nick and SA's singing and rapping, Tim's guitar work, PNuts bass playing wizardry, and Chad's metronome drumming never ceased to impress me. Years later, this album is still heavily rotated in my daily mix of music. I truly believe this is one of the best rock albums ever made, by anyone, period. If you don't already have this album, you need it in your collection.
