A lot of people have been disappointed with this album because of its religious nature even though they still acknowledge the great musical and poetic merit of this work. As usual, Juan Luis Guerra delivers a message about life and love using his contagious rhythm and his characteristic amazing lyrics. This time the message is not about social disparity, corruption, famine, or intimate love. "Para Ti" presents a more powerful message that some will find it offensive; Juan Luis Guerra declares that fulfillment in life comes with the public and open act of worship to God and that by doing so he experiences the greatest pleasure in life. Thank you Juan Luis Guerra for another great work of music loaded with a compelling message.
On a side note: "Las Avispas" is not a song about how God sends wasps to sting bad people as someone said in one of the previous reviews but about God's protection and help when evil presses us. We can laugh at evil because God is with us.

Juan Luis Guerra ha sido el compositor e intérprete más valioso en mi vida, conozco toda su obra rítmica, poética y social, así que puedo recomendar plenamente este nuevo trabajo como un tesoro que un amigo comparte con su gente. Musicalmente pueden disfrutar tres merengues con todo el sabor dominicano (Las Avispas, Soldado y Para Ti) y una salsa con unos arreglos espectaculares teñidos de Jazz (Los Dinteles). Como regalo nos deja 7 temas entre baladas y gospel con arreglos de voces e instrumentos muy bien logrados como lo suele hacer un verdadero músico de profesión. Y en cuanto a contenido sólo dejen que Juan Luis empiece a cantar, escuchen atentamente y se darán cuenta que Dios está allí presente para nosotros en medio de tamboras, congas, trompetas, saxos y guitarras. No se priven de este trabajo porque se pueden perder de un tesoro incalculable.Free Music Review: Remeber why JLG wrote this album!

I have listened to Juan Luis Guerra for six years now. When I was in the store I saw Para Ti and bought it. I had no idea it was a Christian Album.
But I have to say it was a pleasant surprise! I have read reviews criticizing Juan Luis Guerra because it wasn't his "normal" album. I have not been able to stop listening to this album since I purchased it. I have had friends and co-workers listen to various songs from the album.
Listeners need to remember this album was written to praise the Lord; not for the adoration of men. But if we like it...that's nice too!
If you don't want to listen to the Lord being praised...don't buy this album. If you do...you will enjoy this album very much!

Honestamente eso esta Chevere! El habla enor de Senores Y Rey de Reyes! Yo creo que debe de aver mas cantantes que hablen de Dios porque eso habla Verdad! La musica no solamente es de hablar de el Amor entre hombre y mujer... Pero de Amor entre Hijo y Padre,, y el padre es Dios! Que Siga Pa'lante con el Senor!
Honestly this Cd is Awesome! He talks about The Lord, I think that there should be more singers that talk about the Lord instead of Sex Money and Drugs. Because talking about the Lord is TRUTH... Music isnt only made to talk about a Love between man and woman.. but about son and Father.. and the father is God!

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I have to say that those of you who call yourselves fans of JLG obviously don't know him enough to know that this new album isn't to pleas any of us, it's to praise God. He has turned his life around and decided to serve the Lord, it wasn't meant to be just a few songs, that's why the WHOLE album is filled with songs of praise and worship! Its a Christian CD! Frankly, I'm very glad that he's happy in his life and I personally enjoyed the CD very much. Why is it that when someone speaks of God, then it couldn't possibly be enjoyable? Just think about. This album is great, and I certainly recommend it to anyone who has an open mind!
