Free Music Review: Captures the wonder of the TV production perfectly

I received this album from Amazon the day before yesterday, and since then, it has barely left my computer's music player once--I kid you not.
Every time I listen to this album, I'm reminded of the soaring feeling I had watching the TV production starring Kelsey Grammer and company the Christmas before last. Menken and his co-workers have created an adaptation of Dickens' tale that not only brings forth the wonder of the season in audio form, not only makes me wish the real London could be like that, but to top it all off, _someone_ has finally captured the way I have imagined the Ghost of Christmas Present ever since I first read the novel in third grade! "Christmas in July," indeed!
Kudos, Mr. Menken! You and your all-star cast have created a Christmas show that deserves to be rerun on TV for decades to come, right up there with "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and the many Rankin-Bass specials--truly a holiday classic!

Last December, I was beyond excited as I watched the trailers for the upcoming event of this made for TV musical. (and believe me, it was an event in my home) What made the anticipation build was the fact that not only am I a fan of all the stars participating, but also of the composers/creators. IT WAS EVERYTHING I DREAMED IT COULD BE. Such sweet voices. Such a wonderful production. This CD is all I've been listening to for weeks.... and March is hardly the holiday season. Lucky me, for having it to enjoy all year round.

If you want to get in the Christmas spirit you have to get this. I first saw this musical on television in 2004 and purchased the DVD in 2005. I enjoyed it so much that I purchased the audio CD in 2006 so I can listen to it while driving. I think I know why I like this so much. Its because the music was written by the same guy who wrote the music for Disney's Beauty and the Beast (one of my other favorite musicals) during the early 1990's. This Alan Menken is an incredible music writer. Very inspirational! Very upbeat! Very uplifting!Free Music Review: Definately the best!!

This version of Christmas Carol is the best i have seen. In so many others Scrooge only decides to change as a result of seeing his own death. This Scrooge changes gradually as he meets the various ghosts and truly seeks a change even before learning of his fate. The vocals are nicely done- Ranging from the creepy depths of the graveyard to the uplifing duet between young Ebeneezer and Emily. The best being Scrooge's prayer in the graveyard. The TV movie is based on the original 1995 Madison Square Garden production of this musical. This is my favorite version of A Christmas Carol! I loved the additions to the original story, every actor seemed to honestly enjoy playing their parts, and the songs were delightful! Jason Alexander's "Link By Link" is witty and full of play! "God Bless Us Everyone" which runs throughout the musical and "A Place Called Home" are hauntingly beautiful!
