Free Music Review: A Good Soundtrack...

My family loves this CD. We find most of the songs hold up to multiple listenings. We often play it as dinner music... There are several pieces that remind you how good it is to be alive... It is fun, joyful, occasionally pensive. Harry Nilsson never ceases to please. This CD contains both his gentle side in HOW CAN I BE SURE and the raucous fun of JUMP INTO THE FIRE>...which is a timeless rockin' jammin' tune.
I wish the composer of the scored music would produce more pieces like the final song... which I could have a loop made of, it is so beautiful and pleasant you don't want it to end.
The Wedding Song is so delightful ...you just have to dance when you hear it..
And then the French classics by Jean Sabon and Tino Rossi... are formidable.
If you like diverse but playful music you will find this uplifting, fun and continental soundtrack just the ticket to transort you to a good place.

The soundtrack for the movie is spectacular. It is perfect for a lonely lazy afternoon or for a night out with the lady after a candlelight dinner. It's inspiring, romantic and adventurous without being too much of either of them...in short, blissful!
If you've liked the movie like i have then you might be a little disappointed at not having a few songs on the OST such as the track that plays in most trailers of the movie and that plays when he's driving the tiny Smart car (Moi Lolita - Alizee) or the song that plays in the open air restaurant just before it starts raining down (Boum - Charles Trenet).
Overall though, the score is perfect!

THE MOVIE,A GOOD YEAR ,IS A WONDERFULFUL ESCAPE ROM THE GREY RAINY DAYS OF WASHINGTON. THERE WAS FRANCE, PLENTY OF MONEY,WINE, GOOD LOOKING PEOPLE,AND OF COURSE THE CHATEAU. THIS MOVIE WAS RIGHT ON WITH IT'S HUMOR AND IT'S ROMANCE. THE MUSIC WAS ALSO GREAT WITH FAMILIAR AMERICAN OLDIES AND SOME SNAPPY FRENCH POP. THOSE WHO CONSIDER THEMSELVES COMPLICATED AND SOPHISTICATED GIVE THIS MOVIE A GO. THE CRITICS FAILED TO SEE THE CHARACTER RUSSEL CROWE PLAYED AS A MAN WITH A LOST SOUL UNTIL HE FOUND IT WHEN RETURNING TO FRANCE. ONE LAST THOUGHT DO CHECK OUT MARION COTILLARD. SHE IS TO BE PURSUED IN HER OTHER WORKS. SHE IS INCREDIBLE.

loved the movie and couldn't resist the cd.....charming music, romantic, uplifting, and my favorite, teeny yellow polka dot bikini in French! Hated that song, love it on this track. A song by Josephine Baker, then The Wedding Samba, which has one dancing involuntarily. Unexpectedly - Old Cape Cod (yes, the old song by Patti Page). I don't think there has ever been such a disparity between quality of a film and a soundtrack. "A Good Year" the film is oh, so mediocre-but this CD is a wonder. It makes one want to throw a sophisticated dinner party just to have it on in the background. I especially like the instumentals on Track 14. Watch the movie if there is a blizzard and it's on cable and you have a crush on Russell Crowe. Buy this CD NOW!!!!
