Free Music Notes for A Hard Day's Night

Free Music Review: The Beatles: A Hard Day's Night (1964)
Hit: 5 Stars

In 1964, The Beatles had headed over to America and became adored by their American fans, when they made their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. God, was that forty-one years ago? By the time The Beatles gained the respect and love from their American fans, it was known that no matter where The Beatles took their future, they would be considered the greatest band that ever lived.

In April of 1964, The Beatles released their third album entitled, THE BEATLES' SECOND ALBUM. The album didn't seem to have done too well, since it was a compilation, with five new songs.

In June of 1964, The Beatles released their fourth album entitled, A HARD DAY'S NIGHT. The album is to coincide with their first film of the same name. This album is just incredible, but it was rushed out too quickly for the hissing on the tape is too noticeable. They should've taken their time in making this album, but the songs on this album are just outstanding.

A HARD DAY'S NIGHT
This song should be known by everybody on this planet. That strum in the very beginning is so hard not to miss. This is one of my favorite songs from the guys. It is an undestroyable classic.

I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER
For years, I never knew what the name of this song was, until my father gave me this album. Another amazing classic.

IF I FELL
Everybody knows this song. One of the most beautiful ballads to be recorded. This one is one of John's biggest songs in The Beatles' career.

I'M JUST HAPPY TO DANCE WITH YOU
Great. George sings this one very well.

AND I LOVE HER
This song was actually the flip side for the single of, "If I Fell". This song was also released as a single and is one of their major hits. This is definitely another one of the most beautifully recorded ballads. This song is one of Paul's biggest songs in The Beatles' career.

TELL ME WHY
Awesome.

CAN'T BUY ME LOVE
A great song that points out a great message. Money can't buy you love. But it bought Julia Roberts love in "Pretty Woman". Just kidding.

ANYTIME AT ALL
Great song.

I'LL CRY INSETEAD
Not bad.

THINGS WE SAID TODAY
Great song.

WHEN I GET HOME
Great song.

YOU CAN'T DO THAT
This song was supposed to be included in the film, where The Beatles perform it in the ending sequence, but the producers of thought that the ending concert sequence would have made the film longer than they had planned, so the deleted the scene from the final cut. Great song.

I'LL BE BACK
Great song.

This album is just amazing and it is an album that I cannot get enough of. So, make sure that you buy this album and it enjoy it as much as I do.

Free Music Review: A great snapshot taken at the height of Beatlemania
Hit: 5 Stars

The year is 1964. Barely a year before, the Beatles burst onto the music scene, literally relegating everything else to the musical backbench. The boys were an extremely busy band; two albums in 1963 (Please Please Me, and With the Beatles - variously released in America under different names with different tracklistings), a barrelful of stand-alone singles that rank with their best work (i.e. She Loves You, I want to hold your hand - YES, these songs were never on any official albums)

A hard day's night was a 1964 offering, the first I believe of that year for the band. The album was devised as a soundtrack to the movie of the same name which I have seen, and heartily recommend as a great flick (albeit not too deep - but it wasn't meant to be). There's something magical about just seeing the fab four doing anything! You get to see John Lennon in the bath.... (don't give me that look! I'm not insinuating anything here)

Anyway the first 7 songs were taken from the movie. Though the movie has a slightly different version of 'Tell me Why'. These are perhaps the stand out tracks of the 13 track album. Classic songs like 'A Hard Day's Night', 'Can't Buy Me Love', which everybody should know, are complemented well with the George-sung 'I'm Happy Just to Dance With You'. The upbeat 'I should have known better' is another great track; and 'Tell me Why' IMHO has such great energy to it that I can't understand why anybody wouldn't love it.

There are also moodier, slower songs, such as Paul's 'And I love her', and the excellent 'If I Fell'. They round off the first half of the album extremely well

THe second half is far from 'filler' songs, thrown in to fill out the tracklisting. There's no subpar songs here. Songs like 'Anytime at all', 'Things we said today', 'You can't do that' etc, are wonderful songs that deserve recognition. The album is closed well by 'I'll be back', which is a more sombre song with a beautiful vocal melody.

As I keep harping, buy every Beatles album. But buy this one as well! There's no way to fault it. And if you can, watch/buy the movie also!

Free Music Review: pure Beatles start to finish
Hit: 5 Stars

This was the soundtrack music for the Beatles first film. It caused quite a stir at the time because they were just reaching the height of Beatlemania and the albums was packed with great tunes. I love the moody Things We Said Today best, but the Title Track is followed by I Should Have Know Better, If I Fell, I'm Happy Just to Dance With You, Can't Buy Me Love, Any Time At All, I'LL Cry Instead, When I Get Home, You Can't Do That and I'll Be Back. Enough said? WOW!

This was the Beatles when the "fun" was still in the fav four, when the business was still all play and happiness and the songs reflect that. So if you are updating your music library this one is a MUST.
