Free Music Review: Patience is a virtue, especially in Lake Wobegon
Hit: 4 Stars

If you've been having trouble importing this CD to your Mac with iTunes, take heart: I had much the same problem the first couple times I inserted the disk (it spins and does not mount on the desktop and didn't show up in iTunes). F12 or eject to get the CD out, and try it again. Third time was the charm for me: while it is doing a lot of spinning as it imports, it imported fine that time. As GK himself might say, there's nothing given to us that's worth its weight in told unless we have to cuss and struggle over it a little bit. (But one star off for the difficulties in importing for our very un-Lake Wobegon iPods!)

The soundtrack is itself a delight, like the film. My only quibble is that, like with many soundtrack albums, the music is not in the same sequence as it appeared in the film: Altman and Keillor took time and effort to build their story using the music, and to present it out of sequence loses some of the effect. Nevermind. It's easy to resequence the tracks any way you like 'em in iTunes, and you can even leave out Lindsay Lohan's brassy and funny "Frankie and Johnny" if it's not for you. A wonderful souvenir of one of my favorite films of the year.

Free Music Review: A Must-Have...
Hit: 4 Stars

If you've ever heard the show, even once...you need this CD.
If you've seen the movie...you need this CD.
If you have any love of roots music...you need this CD.
If you've never heard of Keillor...you STILL need this CD

The movie was wonderdful, and the CD is the perfect companion. The gentle, beautiful bluegrass-style music is like Aloe Vera for the ears. The best tracks? Gold Watch and Chain, Minnesota Home, and Guy Noir.

Downsides: The DVD is cute, but not really necessary. And...Lily Tomlin can't sing. At all.

Free Music Review: Wonderful CD, but can be difficult to import
Hit: 4 Stars

Following John's advice I tried countless times to get my iMac G5 to read the disk, but no luck. There's more than one way around it, though. I loaded the disk onto my ancient G3 iBook which recognized it immediately. Using a 1GB thumb drive I copied the songs and carried them back to my iMac. Using the iTunes "add to library" command (rather than "import"), I soon had all the songs in iTunes.

The disk is great, but this shouldn't be so difficult, hence one star off for the trouble.

Free Music Review: A PRAIRE HOME COMPANION REVIEW
Hit: 4 Stars

I bought the soundtrack since I enjoyed the music when I watched the movie. You can listen to the excellent deliveries of country music songs from Garrison Keillor,Woody Harrelson,Meryl Streep and Lily Tomlin. In my opinion the best reason to buy the CD is to hear Meryl Streep and Lily Tomlin singing the "My Minnesota Home".They are just fantastic!Pleasant suprise is the well prepared DVD that complements the CD and contains some songs that you don't find in the CD.

Free Music Review: enjoyable but somewhat disappointing
Hit: 4 Stars

after perceiving the film to be a historical piece of movie theater;the sound track seemed a bit dis-jointed in transitioning from song to song. some additonal narration could have helped the flow of music . .
