I have had this album for two years and it still sounds "Fresh". The album does not do their live set justice, but the "Cuban Fire" is here to be enjoyed by all. If the brilliantly arranged track Maria Caracoles fails to move you physically and/or mentally, then I can only suggest that you check out a different genre of music altogether!Free Music Review: Guaijra ! This album is like a sneak preview from what cuba has in store for the world today. Whan I listen to this cd I'm on La Isla Grande. My mind doesn't allow me to stay in Holland. It's no use fighting The Emperors of Son show their face. And behold give in to the Son, it's calling your name to come and dance. Not "A toda cuba le gusta" but A toda del mundo !! A GREAT ALBUM TO GRAB A SMOKE AND A CUBA LIBRE AND SIT BACK ...ENJOY THE RIDE...YOU CAN ALMOST FEEL THE ELECTRICITY IN THE AIR... I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED MY SMALL TASTE OF HAVANAFree Music Review: Good, but a little too flashy for my tastes.

I regret being the first person not to give this album 5 stars. I am certainly pleased at the great enthusiasm other reviewers have shown. My reasons for going with 4 stars are that "Introducing... Rub?n Gonz?lez" is so decidedly better (which I gave a raving 5 stars), that I simply couldn't rate this album at the same level. Although the performance quality is very high, it often seems a little too flashy and overproduced for my tastes. "Buena Vista" and "Introducing..." both have a naturalness of sound here -- which I think is entirely necessary for this kind of music -- that rises above the glossiness found here. I will say that the opening son is memorable, "Havana del Este" is quite moving, and I love "Clasiqueando con Rub?n." After you hear the last piece, you'll never listen to CPE Bach's "Solfeggio" in the same way again! Get this album, but PLEASE, by ALL MEANS, make sure you listen to "Buena Vista" and (the incomparable) Rub?n Gonz?lez albums also.
