Free Music Notes for Midnight MaraudersFree Music Review: FOR TRUE HIP HOP HEADS Hit: 5 StarsThis is by far the best Tribe Called Quest album. There is not one bad track on the entire thing. It is a MUST HAVE for those true hip hop heads out there. I was diggin' through my throwback CD's and came across my Tribe section and have been bumpin' this particular CD for almost a straight week now.
Free Music Review: their best album and one of the best hip hop album ever Hit: 5 Starsthis album to me is one of the illest album to ever come out in the 90's,this album holds a very special place in my heart because of the song electric relaxation, it reminded me of my father back when he was sick and cancer and died a year later in '94,and they would play this song in the radio nonstop, thats when hip hop was pure, and the beats in the album is so hot thats what made this album so legendary, their last best album that they made was beats, rhymes and life, after that they went downhill, and q-tip went commercial and his album amplified was so horrible,q-tip please please make a reunion album, standout tracks 8 million stories (story about a goldigger),electric relaxation (one of the best songs they ever made),keep it rollin (produced by large professor),lyrics to go(hot song and beat),and finally god lives through.recommended for fans of a tribe called quest, early 90's hip hop,ny hip hop.
Free Music Review: "Inhale...my style is kind of fat reminiscent of a whale" Hit: 5 StarsLike its predecessor "The Low End Theory," "Midnight Marauders" is a top hip hop album of all time. In 1993, Phife, Tip, and Shaheed came back with a more mature, artistic manner and it's beautiful. If one word describes this album, it's consistent. It's a straight begin to end listen like any tribe album. Although it's similar on paper to "The Low End Theory", it comes out sounding different. The beats are more centered around piano samples than bass and horns, and the rhymes are more focused; they sound like they're two years older. Musically, this is very upbeat and ambitious, and some of the best beats of '93 are to be found here. It's beautiful. The beats and lyrics never slack off. I also love the whole Midnight Marauder Tour Guide theme, with the interludes. This is hip hop at it's best.
The first song, "Steve Biko" has an instrumental lead in and a sweet intro rap by Phife, it's a great lead off just like "Excursions" was. "Award Tour" was their greatest hit, cool song, you've probably heard it. "8 Million Stories" is Phife's solo, but if you're expecting humor, you're wrong. It's actually about his life's problems, and the beat is nice. "Sucka Nigga", Tip's solo, confronts the use of the n-word, Tip's voice sounds perfect over the beat and the voice sample in the chorus is funny. "Midnight" has a dope beat, good lyrics, very smooth track. "We Can Get Down" might be the catchiest track here, gotta love the chorus, just a fun song overall. The same could be said about "Oh My God" and "Clap Your Hands" (the latter has the same voice samples as in the Das EFX song of the same name). "Keep It Rollin" is noteworthy for the beat and appearance by Large Professor. "Electric Relaxation" might be the best beat on the album, it's so beautifully relaxing and smooth, it doesn't sound like any other Tribe song, it's funny in its own way. "Lyrics to Go" has exactly what the title says, and the guitar riff is cool. My favorite beat, though, is on "God Lives Through", just listen, it's perfect.
I love this album. You'll find yourself bobbing your head to it the whole time. Everybody else has to constantly compare it to "The Low End Theory", which isn't fair, but I guess you kind of have to do it, but they're different. Where I'd put "The Low End Theory" in my top 5 of all time, "Midnight Marauders" might too. This is a near perfect album, it's smooth all around.
Free Music Review: Better than The Low End Theory? Hit: 5 StarsYes, Midnight Marauders is slighty better than The Low End Theory, and that is not putting The Low End Theory down, they are both classics! If you like rap at all you should definitely pick this one up!
Every song on here is awesome, some of my favorites are: Steve Biko, Award Tour, Sucka Ni**a, Electric Relaxation, Keep it Rollin', Lyrics To Go. Hell, the whole album is great! Absolutely no filler, just an intro + 13 classic songs! Midnight Marauders has my recommendation, check it out!
