Midnight Marauders, A Tribe Called Quest third release and there seemed to be no slowing down the trio as hip-hop/rap's elite. Their tunes were still focused on a jazz/hop mainstream production by the Quest as the previous releases and they didn't leave their core fans in the wind. Phife gave his problems with his natural flow on "8 Million Stories" produced by Skeff Anselm. Q-Tip grasp for your attention on the solo, two verse, which happen to be the same one repeated, "Sucka Nigga". As "Midnight" comes to play with the crisp sounds and style of the Tribe as listeners succomb to their elements of comfort with a little "Electric Relaxation". "Oh My God" has Busta Rhymes featured yelling out the hook. "Keep It Rollin'", the other tune not produced by the group, but proves to be effective with the help of featured artist Large Professor as he gave them a banging track that fits the title. Everyone should own this album. I mean everyone. I'm in love with Q-Tip's voice and they all seem to flow together nicely. I actually get giddy when I listen to this album and basically all the songs are "aww shieeet" worthy. Well what can I say? What an album. One of the GREATEST Albums in hip-hop. Normally plays third fiddle to the 2 former albums Peoples Instinctive Travels and the Path of Rhythm and The Low End Theory. To be fair the beats on this album are superior to those on the former 2. Tracks such as "Electric Relaxation" and "Keep It Rollin" prove this. This album is the birth of Phife Dawg as rapper. Lyrics such as
" MC's like to meddle but here's my proposition
I let my lyrics flow and juxta your position"
Put him on point. As always Tip I on point too. Which makes it my favourite ATCQ album!
