Free Music Notes for A Walk on the MoonFree Music Review: What a Time trip, and an excellent compilation Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this cd for the Cher , Elijah Blue duet,"Crimson and Clover" and was thrilled at their effort. I was very happy to find a mix of songs from the flower-power era mixed with some newer covers. "White Bird" by It's a Beautiful Day, is a classic, as well as "Today" by the Airplane, and the gem "Cactus Tree" by the early Joni Mitchell. "Sally go Round the Roses" by the Damnations TX is another great cut. This is a cd you'll enjoy over and over, and should be really big with young and old...just like Cher and Elijah!!!BUY IT NOW!!I have to mention Judy Collin's beauty "Who Knows Where the Time Goes". This is a needed revival on so much of the hippy era classics..So fine..
Free Music Review: The best combination of artists from the 60's-70's out there Hit: 5 Stars
This soundtrack is packed with familiar songs and some less notable but all capture the mood of the times. The combination is great because you can experience the 60's and 70's without ever having been there. This CD makes you feel the turmoil and unrest but most of all you can hear the beats and voices that carried messages of peace in a time of war. It's not the conventional music we usually think of as being stereotypically 60's or 70's. Instead, they give us an accurate representation of the music as it really was; folk was extremely popular and the edgy sounds of Janis Joplin were on the rise. No one artist dominates the CD which makes for a great blend of talented musicians that were appreciated then and now!
Free Music Review: best CD I've bought in years! Hit: 5 Stars
If you came of age in the late 60's, this cd should bring back memories of a special time and great changes. Some old songs I had never heard before by Richie Havens and Joni Mitchell, as well several old favorites, and two good remakes of classics in Crimson and Clover and Crystal Blue Persuasion. I have had this Cd in my car for a week now, and keep skipping though the other cd's to get back to this one. The movie was on a cable channel several times this week, and is a good movie. The sound track establishes the timeframe (summer of 1969) as does the movie title but the sound track also is used as important part of the movie to convey the feelings of those times. Enjoy!
Free Music Review: Babyboomer and Child! Hit: 5 Stars
I was amazed that my 21 yr. old sonloves this soundtrack as much as I do!Frankly, he and I have been passing it back and forth between us for weeks now. Most of the songs, other than 'Ripple' he had never heard before. Itsa beautiful thing to see your own kidsfalling in love with 'our' music.I found 'Cactus Tree' and 'HelplesslyHoping' so sensitive and appropriate inthis film. And only Judy Collins couldgive us such tearful pause as Pearl said 'Good-bye' to Walker. And whats not to Love...with Janis' "Summertime'.I must admit though, I expected to seeRitchie Havens 'Freedom' and Hendrix/Purple Haze included within.
Free Music Review: Love Love this CD Hit: 5 Stars
I saw the movie and was captivated by the sights and sounds of the era. I bought this CD. I am a generation X baby, a baby of a baby boomer, and had never heard any of this music before and loved it. All the songs are sultry, sexy, thought provoking, and timeless. Each song draws you in to the mood individual mood of freedom and love that's the sunnyside of the time!
