Free Music Notes for Back in Black

Free Music Review: Buy it the first time
Hit: 5 Stars

OK, this is the sixth copy of this incredible album that I've purchased over the years(one copy on vinyl, one casette, one regular CD, one digitally remastered CD and my Bonfire copy). This one feels like a brand new album. The sound quality is much improved even over the remasters that were done in 1994. And the packaging is amazing. When I opened the CD for the first time and saw the picture of the band onstage I almost climaxed. There they were, the worlds greatest rock band onstage during the absolute peak of their career. I think everyone knows the drill as far as this album is concerned. If not, here's how Guitar magazine summed it up when they rated it as the #5 album of the 1980's,

"If this record doesn't move you you're probably dead. Back In Black, produced by the brothers Young, is a terrifyingly brutal metal record. Songs like "You Shook Me All Night Long", "Hells Bells" and the title track sound like they were performed by a pack of crazed wolverines touched by the hand of God. You've heard of rhythm and blues? This is rhythm and bruise."

I can't think of anything else to add except THANK YOU SONY!!!!!

Free Music Review: A Remastered Classic (4.5 STARS)
Hit: 5 Stars

There have been many records over the ages that critics have scoffed and listeners have loved. And there have been albums that critics have hailed as "one of the greatest blah blah blah" that we have all scoffed at. And every once in a blue moon there is a very special brand of record that everyone (yes EVERYONE) loves. AC/DC's "Back in Black" is one of those albums.

Many classics are here ("Hells Bells," title track) but few seem to notice all of AC/DC's influences coming into their own as well. It's not just metal. It's the blues, R&B stuff that pushes the album and nearly makes "Back and Black" what it is. The call-and-response of "Givin the Dog a Bone," the deep, repetitive riffs of "Shoot to Thrill," the story-on-the-porch of "Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution" and the anabashed R&B swagger of "Let Me Put My Love Into You" and "You Shook Me All Night Long" is what made this album a no holds barred classic. On top of everything else, this is the most fun any blues-metal album will ever be. Overall: 9 out of 10.

Free Music Review: Back In Black again
Hit: 5 Stars

This is one of the best albums of all time and if you don't believe me check any registered music critic's top 100 list and you'll see it there somewhere. Not only is it a fun album and one that brings constant memories of high school flooding back to me; it really is a very well put together record. Coming off the death of lead singer Bon Scott, the Young boys and their co-horts hopped onto the Brian Johnson wagon and headed into the studio. With the fists to the air and groin to the ground "You Shook Me All Night Long" this album was off and running all over the world. The sound on the remaster is excellant and so are the liner notes some of which make you really listen to the album. The mixture of old blues and hard rock is more evident than I originally had even thought of and just the hard rocking fun of the title track, the grinding "Rock & Roll Ain't Noise Pollution" and "Giving The Dog A Bone" is just plain exciting. If you haven't heard it in a while I highly suggest you throw that old cassette into the boom box and give it another go - or better yet get this remaster, I know you want it.

Free Music Review: THE GREATEST HARD ROCK ALBUM OF ALL TIME!
Hit: 5 Stars

Actually, Led Zeppelin's catalog surpasses any other band's in terms of musical quality, but for an album that is focused on balls to the wall hard rock, Back in Black is IT. Nearly every song is killer, no filler. Well, for me "Let Me Put My Love Into You Baby" and "Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution" are kind of lame, but the strength of the other tracks just demolishes any of the album's weaknesses. Everybody knows the greatness of "Hells Bells", the title song and "You Shook Me...", but I think an overlooked song is "Have A Drink On Me"...THE GREATEST HARD ROCK SONG EVER! I thought that when I was 14 (when I bought the album) and still think that today (I'm now 41). A bluesy, killer intro riff, catchy chord changes...and that passage from where it builds up after the solo into that SCORCHING last verse (kind of like a bridge at the end of the song)...KICKS A*S!!! That song alone is worth twice the price of the whole album!

So if you're only going to buy one AC/DC album, this is it, hands down. 20 million buyers of this disc are not wrong.

Free Music Review: "Back" In Black
Hit: 5 Stars

There are some things in rock 'n' roll that not change, even with new technology. In this case, the new edition of AC/DC digipacks that Epic released in 2003, Back In Black is one exceptional example. After listening to the first remaster done by Elektra in 1994 years ago, this came to me like a surprise. the new Back in Black is totally going to blow you away. (if you're an AC/DC fan, of course). The sound is clearer than the first remaster and also contains more information of the "making of Back In Black", in other words: liner notes, photos, and more. Being more than 20 years of the first release of this record, the songs (with this new format), are excellent. Songs like "Hells Bells", "Back In Black" and "Shook Me All Night Long" are going to stick in your head forever. The fabolous combination of ideas of the Young bros.,and the greatest production of "Mutt" Lange, make this record a classic, even more with this new format. So, what are you waiting for? Get in to the "Back in Black" experience and buy this record. You won't be dissapointed at all.
