Free Music Notes for BonfireFree Music Review: Bon-apetite Hit: 4 Stars
I am truly a big AC/DC fan, I own every song I could find by them. I am very glad they released this set, Bon himself said "One day I will make a solo album dedicated to myself, Bonfire". I give Bonfire 4 stars for these reasons
1. Great collection
2. All Bon, except for Back In Black
3. Let There Be Rock The Movie sound quality is poor
4. Why Back In Black, I know it's about AC/DC recovering from Bon's death, but what about the missing songs:
Stick Around
Love Song
Can I Sit Next To You Girl (Live)
Little Lover (Live)
Rock In Peace
Crabsody In Blue
Carry Me Home
Cold-Hearted Man
Black-Balled (Demo)
Ride On (Live)
Johnny B. Goode (Live)
I have finally obtained these songs (but not in superior quality), but why put Back In Black instead of these songs. Bon originally stated "His solo album" not to include Brian Johnson. Plus how many of us already own Back In Black? I like Brian Johnson and Back In Black, but I believe it shouldn't have been released int his set.
Free Music Review: Goodie Goodie, but Oldie Oldie Hit: 4 Stars
Ok, it's not only been almost 30 years since any of this was recorded. Which is fine, btw.
There's awesome music here, fun performances but few words from Bon himself, on the shows. It's just that this particular collection will be more atractive and money-worthing for those who YET have some of this material in vynil and want the digital version. Specially the remastered "Back in Black" album, included in context. And for those who came into AC/DC by the time mp3 was well established, in other words people not used to buy cds who might, in this particular case, do it. Very unlikely.
Also, keep in mind that this box-set has, ALREADY, 12 years of release. And that there's also that 17-record collection, released few years later, that is just a must-have. So, if you became a hardcore fan during the "Ballbreaker", "Stiff Upper Lip" and "Black Ice" era, it might be nice to hear the other songs from the numerous live DVDs the band released this period, in it's original singer's tone. And, of course, if it's about [...] bucks.
Free Music Review: Bon Scott ...... RIP Hit: 4 Stars
Excellent release of live and studio demos from the Bon Scott era...a bonus cd of "Back in Black" which I have on record, nice to always have this release on a cd, never gets old...The live tracks, some from the movie release of "Let There Be Rock" is worth the price of the box set. Different versions of songs that were never previously released but were with different titles and lyrics. Great tribute to the late, great, but never straight, former singer.....
Free Music Review: The "rehashed tunes" are awesome Hit: 4 Stars
This box set was alright. To the guy whining about Back in Black, Dude, that WHOLE ALBUM was about Bon and his death. Highway to Hell should be included, but most of us already bought that album a long time ago. Dude, have some respect for Bon and stop crying. Also, the old AC/DC tunes rock. I can listen to them all day. Do you call yourself an AC/DC fan?? I hope not for music's sake.
Free Music Review: Reason For Back in Black Inclusion Hit: 4 Stars
As "a music fan" says, it's a tribute to Bon Scott. The album Back in Black was itself released as a tribute. It was the first album after his death and many of the songs ("Back in Black," "Hells Bells," and "Have a Drink on Me", etc.) were written specifically about Scott. The fact that the album is all black shows the band's mourning the loss of their singer.
