Free Music Notes for High Voltage (Dlx)Free Music Review: What a Debut!!!!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
To let you all know, yes I realise TNT and the australian version of high voltage were two seperate albums, but I'm reviewing this as America's first album. Let me start off by saying this is one of the strongest debuts ever. This album is rock at its dirtiest most raw and pure form. I love led zeppelin to death they are one of my favorite bands, but when it comes to strait forward nasty rock, AC/DC owns. That's why ac/dc is special, they never tried to be the best band or artsy, they always stuck to their routes, and it worked for them. The first track on this album is so strong and powerful it almost seems like it'd be impossible to top.
1. It's A Long Way to the Top-This is how albums should begin. This is a catchy as hell anthem that you'll be singing for weeks. The thing I admire about Bon Scott are his lyrics. People always cite ac/dc as being immature, crude, rude, etc, which is all true, but what people don't realise is bon scotts lyrics were actually really good without being all artsy or trying to hard, bon never tried, he just did it. What i also admire is how simple, and true his lyrics were, he rocks everyday joe. And to top it off, this song has bag pipes, enough said.
2. Rock N Roll Singer-More simple yet great lyrics from Bon. It's about living a carefree life and rocking out, and this song is rocking.
3.The Jack-One of their blusiest songs, and it works really well. The guitar is almost sexy sounding, and the lyrcis are genious the way he uses metaphors of a card game and stds! This is what I love about Bon, the way he makes words mean something completley totally different. He is a lyrical genious.
4. Live Wire-I love how this song has a powerful buildup. STarts off with a pounding bass and slow power chords. Then when it kicks in it is f**king explosive. There are several riffs in here that kickass and great lead work from Angus on this track. One of their best songs.
5. TNT!!!!!! OI!!! OI!!! OI!!! This song is what ac/dc is all about! Catchy as hell, awesome riff, and sing a long chorus. This would become one of their signature songs and is pure fun dirty immature rock.
6. Can I Sit Next To You Girl-This is an ac/dc you'll never hear again, this song is unique and has a really old school rock n roll style. It has several kickass riffs and you can't help but smile listening to Bon.
7. Little Lover-Another blues song that sounds similiar to the jack , but not quite as remorable.
8. She's Got Balls-ANothet song that proves Bon as a master lyricist. Fun enjoyable song.
9. High Voltage-The title couldn't be more appropriate. The opening riff is explosive and the song never lets down. You'll be singing along with the chorus and the solo kicks major ass. It's a great way to end an excellent album.
If I have any complaints about the album it's the fact that their cover of Baby Please Don't Go wasn't included as it is one of the best songs they've ever done. It's an ac/dc youll never hear again, it is very fast paced and has very few power chords in it. There is super sweet from angus on this song, anyways if you wanna hear that song buy the five track jailbreak album.

Free Music Review: The most fun you'll ever have listening to classic rock! Hit: 5 Stars
By 1976, Australian hard-rockers AC/DC had already released 2 albums in their homeland, but High Voltage, a compilation of the best of those 2, was their North American debut (some of the songs left out can now be heard on the new Backtracks box set). The result of this compilation idea was one hell of an album. High Voltage starts with It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll). This creative song has a long title but a simple message: 'show business isn't as easy as it looks'. One of the best things about this song is the use of bagpipes and guitars at the same time to create a very unique solo. The second song is Rock 'N' Roll Singer, in which a young musician tells his parents that he wants to be a rock star - not the doctor or lawyer they want him to be. Next comes The Jack, a song about a card game that is very slow and bluesy but also very fun to sing along to, especially in the chorus. In fact, the song ends with the sound of a crowd cheering and singer Bon Scott saying good-night. Obviously, this song is a live staple. The fourth song is Live Wire, the lyrics to which use the theme of electricity suggested by the band's name. T.N.T., the song following Live Wire, does the same thing to a certain extent. T.N.T.'s chorus says that "I'm dynamite - watch me explode". T.N.T. is probably the most well-known song on the album, and is another live staple. The sixth song is called Can I Sit Next To You Girl, in which a man notices an attractive woman at the movie theater and then asks her that question. This is a lesser-known AC/DC song, but it's just as fun to listen to as T.N.T. and The Jack. Next comes Little Lover, another song about meeting a woman - this time at a rock concert. This song is very bluesy, just like The Jack, but is still very upbeat. The next song, She's Got Balls, is not about a transsexual, but rather about a woman who has style and knows how to please a man. The final song on the album is the title-track, High Voltage, which is another live staple, probably because of its energy and sing-along chorus. It's a simple song about the rock 'n' roll lifestyle and rock 'n' roll itself (or to be more exact "high voltage rock 'n' roll"). It brings the album to a close and leaves a smile on your face. Like most other AC/DC reissues, this album comes with new packaging and a booklet containing many great photos and new liner notes. In one of the pictures, if you look close, you can see a band member wearing a t-shirt that says "no wuckin' furries", a phrase that can be used to sum up the vibe of the music. I highly recommend AC/DC's High Voltage, especially if all you have is Back In Black.
Free Music Review: really really great stuff, trust me im an expert!!! Hit: 5 Stars
ok, im 14, not 13! big difference right? ok, i have been and AC/DC fan for about 1 1/2 years, and about 1 of those years was obssesive and i have all but 3 of there cd's. high voltage was about the 3rd one i bought and has been probably my second favorite since (highway to hell is just way to cool!) heres how the songs stack up...
1. its a long way: oh wow this song is genious, probably the most diverse song by ac/dc, just because of the bagpipes, great lyrics, and the bagpipes and guitar feeding off each other is heaven 10/10
2. rock n roll singer: this is a really listenable song, good song all around 9/10
3. the jack: i used to like it, but it gets long and boring, its great lyrics are great... that doesnt sound right... oh well its late, kinda boring, funny at the end when bons says to the booing crowd, thank you thank you, thank you people, thank you, im glad you liked the show, yes yes, good night and god bless! 7/10
4. live wire: i used to think this song was too slow, but you gotta see the live version on let there be rock, one of the last live shows w/ bon, greatest ac/dc live show, its on amazon get it! so after i saw it live i gained more respect for it, they played it so great live, overall a good song 8/10
5. T.N.T. real good song, but loses its energy during the verses, i dont think bon sang it as good as he could have, hate to say it but i think brian does a better job at donington, this really is a great song though 8/10
6. can i sit next to you?: really poppy for ac/dc, but cmon we all like it, i think this song is pretty cool 8/10
7. little lover: this songs good, a little corny? cheesy? i dont know what they were thinking at the time but it ended up turning out pretty good 7/10
8. shes got balls: kinda same with the jack for me, its pretty good, i like it better than the jack 8/10
9. high voltage!!!!: this is why they called the album high voltage, not tnt. much better musicianship (i think thats the right word, im tired) quality than tnt, not the same 3 chords over and over, then ohhhhh! reversed! this song is very very catchy, and happy sounding great lyrics, great everything. 10/10
this gets me an average of according to the oh so convenient calculator in the computer, which should make this album 4 stars, but im giving it 5 and theres NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT. im giving it 5 because of the flows so perfectly, all the songs are in the right spots, and makes it so enjoyable to listen to. buy it, its worth it.
Free Music Review: Remastered Riff-O-Rama! Hit: 5 Stars
"High Voltage" was one of the first albums I purchased when I was in Junior High School. I finally decided to replace my pop filled album copy with this newly minted remaster. It sounds great especially without all the pops from my album version. The US release of "High Voltage" was an eye opener in 1976 for the unknowing US buyers. The Young brothers unleashed their patented blues/boogie riffs on the unsuspecting stateside public still accustomed to singer-songwriters. The catchy riffs eventually became favorites of rockers everywhere. The album is actually a compilation of two albums issued earlier in their Australian homeland "High Voltage" and "TNT". "High Voltage" also features original bass player Mark Evans along with long time drummer Phil Rudd. Bon Scott's vocals provide a boozy swagger missing from the current version of the band fronted however admirably Brit screamer Brian Johnson. The set contains a number of classics like "It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock 'N' Roll)", and "Live Wire". My own personal favorites are the double-entendre filled "The Jack", "TNT" with its "Oi! Oi! Oi!" chant and "High Voltage". The other tracks are also interesting. This is one of their best albums especially from the period when Bon Scott was in the band. The new disk also contains a link to a website with more information about the making of the album, pictures, tour dates from their tour to promote "High Voltage" and other interesting items for fans of the band. My only regret other than the first song being edited is that no bonus tracks were included from either the original Australian release of "High Voltage" or "TNT" the other Australian only release that some of the tracks on the US version of "High Voltage" were taken. Some of these cuts are still not released in the United States. The remastered version also contains new expanded liner notes and photos including copies of the Australian covers of "High Voltage" and "TNT". This is the album that started it all. The rest as they say is history. The Young brothers riffs carry the day along with the vocals of Scott. It is appropriate that this instantly recognizable band will be inducted into the Rock 'N' Roll Hall Of Fame.
Free Music Review: The first of many AC/DC classics Hit: 5 Stars
I purchased the 2003 Re-issued version of this album on Cassette. I was so glad to see they were still making 'em! The liner notes aren't as fancy as the Compact Disc, but the sound is crisp and clear just the same, a marked improvement over past versions. Originally released in the U.S in 1976, High Voltage is a classic and was the first of the "Essential Four" Bon Scott-era albums (This, Let there be rock, Powereage, and Highway to hell.) Since they hadn't achieved it yet, the boys sound hungry for fame here. Which isn't better or worse than following albums, it's just different. "It's a long way to the top if you want to Rock 'N' Roll" sets the tone, bolstered by a bagpipe flavor. "Rock 'N' Roll singer" has a catchy riff and tells the story of Bon's defiance of the status quo. He sums it up best: "My Daddy was workin' nine to five When my Momma was havin' me By the time I was half alive They knew what I was gonna be But I left school and grew my hair They didn't understand They wanted me to be respected as A doctor or a lawyer man (But I had other plans)" "The Jack" plods along nicely, and "Live Wire" has a memorable chorus. Side 2 starts with "TNT" whose opening chords you may be familiar with. This song is still a live pillar today, and with good reason, as it's qualities are anthemic. On "Can I sit next to you Girl" the guitars briskly wind, followed by "Little Lover" which is bluesy to the core. If your head doesn't nod to the enormous groove of this track, I really coundn't help you. To top it all off, Bon's lyrics are Genius: "Little lover, I can't get you off my mind Little Lover, I've been trying hard to find someone to give me the things that I need, ow! You had my picture On your bedroom wall Next to Gary Glitter, yeah I was standing on the stage Playing rock 'n' roll I was a guitar picker, yeah Never had a record Never had a hit Oh baby You didn't mind a bit" "She's got balls" has sleazy lyrics, backed by a distorted crunch. The closing title track rocks out splendidly. "High Voltage" is an undeniable classic, for newcomers I'd recommend this as your first Bon Scott-Era album.
