Free Music Notes for Powerage (Dlx)Free Music Review: BOOM!BOOM!BOOM! Hit: 5 Stars
...That is all i freakin' hear when i pop this in the stereo!ACDC was one of the most talented bands up to this day and it shows on this awesome album.Alot of people and critics bash this one for the lack of the power-chorus hit such as "highway to hell" or "tnt".This album shows this band could do more than just come up with foot-stompin' sing along tracks. The arrangements are more diverse in the songs which just sounds amazing. The lyrics are top notch here as well.Bon was a genius.nuff said.Just listen to tracks like "Down Payment Blues" and "Gimme A Bullet" and you'll hear Bon's intelligent lyrics. This is ACDC's experimental or "step away from the expected" album. It absolutely rocks from the good-time riffin' of "rock n roll damnation" to the final chords of the menacing and brute "Kicked In The Teeth".Get this album and you will be rockin' like a mofo.Anything from ACDC's 70s catalogue is a must have.
Free Music Review: AC/DC at its best! Hit: 5 Stars
The one question every fan asks when remasters come out--"Do I really need to buy another version of an album I already own?" When talking about AC/DC's reissued POWERAGE, the answer is undeniably yes. Malcolm has said in interviews that these re-releases sound louder, and he's right! From the first chords of the CD, the difference between this and previous versions is crystal clear. The guitars are stark, then bass is rumbling, the drums have an extra snappiness to them, and Bon's voice sounds brilliant. To me, this is AC/DC's finest moment, both musically and lyrically. With this new tweaking by the likes of Mike Fraser (who's sat in for the past two studio albums as engineer), this is sonically AC/DC's finest moment as well. Bottom line, if you are going to buy one re-issue from the Sony digipaks, let it be this one. It's absolutely brilliant!!
Free Music Review: Riff Raff! Always good for a laugh! HA! HA! HA! Hit: 5 Stars
You'll notice that nearly every review here at Amazon.com states this as being AC/DC's best album, yet it is also their least known album. Strange, huh? Well, the folks here speak the absolute truth. Powerage IS AC/DC's BEST ALBUM EVER. It's un-freakin'-believable. Riff Raff/Sin City is arguably the best 1-2 punch in rock music history. In fact, after acquiring this album, Riff Raff has taken the throne as my personal favorite AC/DC song...I can't get enough of it. I also really dig Gone Shootin' (too-cool blues riff...goosebump city, baby), Kicked in the Teeth, Sin City, & Whats Next to the Moon. That's not to put anything against the other songs on this album, as it truly rocks from beginning to end to beginning to end to beginning to end (you'll want to have your CD-player's repeat function engaged for this disc). 6 stars & crank it to 11!!!
Free Music Review: One of AC/DC's finest. Hit: 5 Stars
I got this CD at a used music store and it ROCKS! I cant believe someone would want to sell this CD. The opening song "Rock n Roll Damnation" is a great AC/DC song. "Down Payment Blues" is different compared to other AC/DC songs forming one of the most catchiest songs on the album...well its up there. "Gimme a Bullet" has just one word to describe it, AWESOME! "Riff Raff" is...is...you just cant describe how great this song is. Sin City is the one song on this album still being played in AC/DC concerts. I wish they would "Rock n Roll Damnation" and "Riff Raff" though. The rest of the songs are great but im not going to review. If you want a good soild AC/DC album...This is it. If you dont have it...go buy it now! its only 10 bucks here and ive seen it for 9 bucks at [...]. so get it!
Free Music Review: I thought it was my special secret Hit: 5 Stars
I was a snotty schoolboy in suburban Sydney in the 70's and can clearly remember all the singles and albums released by ac/dc ... except this LP and anything from it. I subsequently bought the LP in the 80's as back catalogue and for years I treasured the music and wondered if anyone else knew it existed and all of a sudden half the lunatics on amazon claim it's the band's best ever.
As it happens, it's my favourite. So that's not much of a review but in terms of consistency only TNT can compare (original version ... I've seen some hybrid monstrosities available on CD - buy at your peril).
Following is a track by track thesis. Bugger it, let's stick with Gone Shootin having a pleasant chord. Buy and enjoy.
