Free Music Notes for Powerage (Dlx)Free Music Review: Jean Jacket Blues Hit: 5 Stars
1978 - what were the options for smart kids? You had garbage popular music (DISCO, not unlike todays awful smattering of terrible boy bandish junk). And you had the greatness of bands like AC-DC, Sabbath, Van Halen etc. Almost 20 years after its release, Powerage still rocks! By this time in their career, Bon Scott and buddies had it down cold - simple but powerful riffs and drinking scowls that only Bon could turn into athems. No filler, just perfect foot stompin' jean jacket blues. Thats the beauty of the Bon Scott era, somehow its simplicity is perfect. This album is timeless. If you don't own it, you need to.
Free Music Review: The best studio recording of AC/DC Hit: 5 Stars
This album is great! I think this is the best studio recording of AC/DC. The sound is good, and there are many different types of songs on here. My favorite for this would have to be "Riff Raff", the power chords of Malcolm mixed with Angus' solos are breathtaking. Great songs such as "Gone Shootin" and "What's Next to the Moon" are some of my other favorites. This is one of the most treasured albums of many AC/DC fans, and for good reason. Great album, shouldnt be your first, but definetly worth getting after youve heard some of their other stuff.
Free Music Review: Awesome record - but why leave off the extras? Hit: 5 Stars
Powerage is a terrific album. All of AC/DC's Bon Scott era records are mandatory.......but this one is especially great. Released right when they were gaining popularity in the US (yes, AC/DC DID have popularity BEFORE "Back In Black"). Only one disappointment. This re-issue does not contain ANY of the original mixes from the first European release and it omits "Cold Hearted Man" (one of the best Bon Scott era tunes yet never released in the US). A great album none the less but c'mon Malcolm, release some rarities over here in the US!!!!
Free Music Review: It is the best Hit: 5 Stars
Simply put this is the best Bon era ACDC cd you can buy. Lets face it - they are all great, but for me this one has it. Sin City? 'nuff said. Gimme a bullet? Classic with a K. Downpayment Blues? ditto. Rock 'N Roll Damnation? Get in. They are all totally killer. This was my first ACDC album, on vinyl, and I took a chance that has been re-payed a thousand times over. If you are touching a toe in the Pre Johnno 'DC water then this is the one to try. Trust me...I am certainly not a doctorrrrr... and even Keith Richards agrees with me! Or was it Cliff...
Free Music Review: one of their best Hit: 5 Stars
1978's powerage is in my opinion ac/dc's third best studio album which by coincidence were consective from powerage to 79 highway to hell to 80 back in black. this album doesn't really have a weak track they're all hard rockers with good lyrics and guitar and a consistent sound.alot of people shy away from it beacuse it doesn't have a hit but i'll tell you that tracks like sin city and rock n roll damnation are as good as anything on the other albums i mentioned. the point is that if you like ac/dc especially the bon scott era this is a must buy
