Free Music Notes for Across the Universe

Free Music Review: Incomplete Soundtrack a Downer
Hit: 3 Stars

I just picked up the soundtrack for the movie--I would not, knowing the track listing now, pay full price for it. Alot of my favorites from the movie aren't in this version of the soundtrack, which must have either been a poor decision or brilliant marketing to make people pick up the deluxe version as well. Be warned to check out what you're actually buying here.

That being said, the movie and sountrack are both good enough, if you're a fan of the Beatles it's a neccesity to see and hear, if not, It's along the lines of a visually tamer Moulin Rouge. Some of the songs are really amazingly well done, while some of them seem like they were forced in (especially while watching the movie).

Free Music Review: Covers???
Hit: 3 Stars

I crack up each time I read one of the reviews. "Garage cover bands", "remakes". Watch the movie, then buy the cd. It's like if you went to see a play. Of course the Beatles will forever hold the title as the best, but get the crap over yourselves. Enjoy the movie. They weren't "remaking" the Beatles' songs, they were using them to tell a love story. You wouldn't expect them to lip sync to the Beatles for the movie would you? That would just be dumb, guys singing to guys -- awesome. Whatever. They were telling a tale from the time period of the Beatles, on the subjects of their songs. The soundtrack and movie are wonderful and insightful. I only gave it 3 stars because the deluxe version is better.

Free Music Review: Buy the Deluxe Version
Hit: 3 Stars

Saw the movie and loved it, but I was blown away by the soundtrack even more. Let It Be is not To BE believed.

Won't repeat the praise of other posters. However, just wanted to let you know that I picked up the Deluxe Edition at Best Buy tonight for the sale price of $9.99! Yes, all 31 songs. I'm located in Chicago but I saw the price at Best Buy's online site. So, I presume all the Best Buys are selling it for the same price. Otherwise, it is available from Best Buy online.

I have no interest in Best Buy. Just letting everyone know that the Deluxe Version can currently be picked up quite cheap.

Free Music Review: Buy the other one
Hit: 3 Stars

I LOVE this movie and its soundtrack BUT... I was debating whether to buy this one or the other (extended) one for $2 more. Somehow, between all the reviews, I got confused as to the difference between the two. I bought this one and thought... I thought there were 29 songs?? That's the other CD. It's still missing 2 songs from the movie but at least you get the other 13 that this one lacks. So spend another $2 and get 13 more songs, totally worth it. I just bought the other one because of my disappointment at the mistake I had made buying this one.

Free Music Review: Nice Collection of Beatles Covers
Hit: 3 Stars

As a 50-year-old die hard Beatle fan, I'm a tough sell on Beatle covers. There are songs that I simply don't connect with at all. But there are some real good songs here-nice arrangements: Come Together-Joe Cocker, With A Little Help From My Friends, Flying, Hold Me Tight, I am the Walrus-Bono, Across the Universe, Revolution, Helter Skelter, Hey Jude and Lucy In the Sky with Diamonds-Bono alone is worth the price of the CD. It's a double set so it earns a 3 star. If you're a Beatles fan, it's a nice addition to your collection.
