Free Music Review: I love the movie and the soundtrack
Hit: 5 Stars

I love this movie, so I love the soundtrack, because when I hear the songs I am transported back to my favorite scenes in the film. I think the singing is very well done and I really enjoy these versions of the songs. Normally, I'd say that I don't like them nearly as much as the original versions. That would be true if this was just a collection of Beatle's songs re-done by various artists. However, when we are talking about songs that tell a story in the movie, I have to say I enjoy the songs a lot more and (dare I say it) almost as much as the originals. I guess my point is that, although you may like this st if you haven't seen the movie, I think you will like it more if you have. However, if you do listen to it before seeing the movie, keep an open mind and please realize that, in some instances, the context in which the song is used warrants a rather different version from what you may be used to hearing. Oh, and I'd definitely recommend getting the deluxe version.

Free Music Review: Inconsistent with several throwaways
Hit: 3 Stars

I got the Deluxe version. I really want to like this, but I just can't get into it. Blackbird is playing right now, and it's a little bit worse than my wife's rendition of it in the shower. I like Jim Sturgess' voice on several tunes, but his breathiness is starting to wear on me.

Free Music Review: Brilliant, and then some.
Hit: 5 Stars

My mother picked up this album first and she said it right: "Oh, my God. It's beautiful... it's poetry." I agree. Each song is better than the next and it plays like a journey. I put it on my iPhone and just strolled in the park. You'll dance, you'll cry -it's better than Cats. And yes, get the Deluxe Edition for a dollar more. P.S. Hey, Sony, where the hell is this movie playing, anyway?!

Free Music Review: Not the Beatles, but still enjoyable
Hit: 4 Stars

From the first time I saw the preview I was entranced by this movie. Sadly, since I am not in one of the select cities that is carrying this movie I found that I had to content myself with the soundtrack.
I was not expecting much from this soundtrack (having seen the "so bad it's legend" Sgt Pepper movie), but I was happily surprised by it. Some of the songs miss their target, but most are rather well done. I have a feeling that most of the songs are more enjoyable when they are sung within the storyline of the movie. (For instance, I didn't care overly much for the rendition of "I wanna hold your hand", but when I found out the song's context in the movie I enjoyed it more for it's bitter-sweet tone.)

I would recommend this to people as long as they listen with an open mind. It's not the Beatles, but nothing is as good as the original singers playing their own stuff. It's pretty darn good, though.

Hit: 5 Stars

I saw the movie tonight - fantastic to hear new versions of these songs but close to their original sound! The movie was very well made tying all of these good songs in to the movie.
