Free Music Review: Lyrics need help

I'll keep this short and sweet. There are quite a few catchy songs on this CD, but the lyrics will make you cringe. It's like listening to a 13 year-old complain about not having a girlfriend.
But, while the music isn't groundbreaking, it's definitely not horrible either. A decent effort. Listen for yourself.

I don't know if this is going to make much sense to you, but Adema went forward as well as backwards with this release. They managed to strip away the tired routine of rap/rock that made their debut less than desirable but in the process stripped away any ounce of strength within their musical arrangements and deliver to us boring and uninspired tracks.
The opening track `Co-Dependant' is forgettable and the closing track `Needles' tries way to hard and delivers way to little. All in all they have one or two note-worthy tracks amidst what feels like filler, and that's sad because their debut offered promise amidst immaturity and I was really hoping that their sophomore album would refine their skills as apposed to diminishing them.
The best track here by far is the single `Unstable'. It's the only track that really packs a punch so-to-speak. Lyrically it's the strongest track here too, nothing overly ridiculous coming out of Mike's mouth. I can't think of a bad thing to say about this track. Sadly it misled me into thinking that this album was going to match the strength of its first single. Songs like the aforementioned `Co-Dependant' and `Rip the Heart out of Me' try to capitalize on `Unstable' by presenting similar song structure but fail to truly make it work. `Step Up' is the token `abuse' track that seems to be popular today, but it lacks any heart, any real depth of emotion. I can't connect to it.
Songs like `So Fortunate' seem so out of place it's a shame they were included. They are memorably horrible. That's not something you want to remember. `Betray' is the type of track that just adds little to the album. It's not bad but it's not good; purely forgettable. In fact the same can be said for pretty much the remainder of the album. Songs like `Let Go' and `Do You Hear Me' are not technically `bad' songs but they are just so forgettable. None of them will stay with you; none of them will move you to listen again. `Stressin' is slightly better, but not much.
One thing you notice when listening to this album is that it lacks any edge. It's just so formulistic, so generic that it dies upon contact, never delivering anything notable. When they try to add some edge (like on the closer `Needles') they go so far overboard that it comes across out of place and absurd and gives me nothing more than a headache.
Two tracks that at least deliver on the contemporary side of things are `Blame Me' and `Promises'. They develop nicely and flow well; so while neither are tracks you'd expect from Adema they are at least decent tracks in themselves. `Promises' at times seems a little forced but it works itself out in the end.
In the end there are really only three songs worth mentioning here. Aside from `Unstable', `Promises' and `Blame Me' this sophomore album is a dud. I'd skip this altogether and find something a little more palatable.
I will give them this though; I love the cover art.

This CD is completely pushed by the song, "Unstable". All other songs are blander, mainstream-ish types, and the other track, "Immortal", is a lyrical disaster. I mean, it is simply repeating "You can't kill me, I'm immortal." - Like it's a revelation to people, that the word "Immortal" means unable to be killed. Overall, this CD is only good for that one song. If you have an Ipod, Buy the track, if not, simply disregard the rest.Free Music Review: What happened here?

So this isn't the worst CD ever made but it's far from the best, and it's far from their debut. The first single 'Unstable' is a great song, and 'Promises' although feeling a little forced is still decent...but the problem here is that other than 'Rip the heart out of me' (which is still not great) the rest of the CD falls flat and becomes very forgettable. They had so much promise with their debut that for this album to come out with no support and dismal sales and then to really (for lack of a better word) suck the way it did is sad. So now they've dumped Mike (the singer) and thats probably for the best since his voice just doesn't fit. I know what you may think...he sounds just like Jonathon Davis, but Jon makes it work and Mike just couldn't...Anyways, it's sad they had to go out like this...I hear that 'Planets' (the bands effort without Mike) is decent, but still not much success is coming their way. Well I've listened to the new Adema album, Planets, and it's just not the same without the lead singer, Mark Chavez. The new singer's voice doesn't have anything that draws your attention like Mark's does.
Anyway, I believe Unstable is Adema's greatest album (and most likely last greatest). People complain about lack of depth in the lyrics; however, this lack of depth makes it easier to relate with situations in your own life. The best songs are:
