Free Music Review: Excellent, Especially Disc 2

I was a fan of Agnes Poetry before they became Adom9, and although this album retains elements of their old style, it takes things in a different direction. I think that some of the electronica/synthpop songs on disc 1 are very good (especially "I Wonder," which is probably my single favorite Agnes Poetry/Adom9 song), but the real treat is disc 2.

Disc 2 is a seamless series of electronic/orchestral/choral songs patterned after a traditional Latin mass (with all-Latin lyrics). Both the traditional and electronic aspects are well-crafted and have a lot of variety. Very unique and interesting.

This release contains 2 discs, one of a newly composed requiem mass, and another disc of alternative and dance songs, and even ballads. The uniqueness and diversity of Adom9 is most clearly demonstrated in disc 2, Missa de deux freres (mass of two brothers), of the Deluge project in which Adom9 has fused sacred Renaissance music with modern electronica/breakbeat and orchestral music.
