If you remember the rapper named Dred Scott, and the woman who sang the hooks to his songs, well, that woman was Adriana Evans. Dred returns the favor by producing her self-titled debut where all of the songs were written by Evans herself. There were some songs that just made you want to stop what you're doing and take notice like "Swimming", "Love is All Around", and "Seein' in Believing" (the latter two being released singles). This was due to well-thought-out lyrics and stunning vocals that may remind some of Billie Holiday. If you like artists like Grenique, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Amel Larrieux, or Julie Dexter, then this album is for you. It's a shame she didn't sell as many records as she should have. And where she is now, who knows. Has anyone seen Dred Scott either?

Free Music Review: INTROSPECTIVE AND QUITE LOVELY
Hit: 5 Stars

MS EVANS HAS A WONDERFUL CLEAR VOICE. I ONLY HEARD THIS CD RECENTLY AND AM TRULY SORRY THAT IT DID NOT GET WORLDWIDE ATTENTION. HER SOUND IS FRESH AT THE SAME TIME VERY OLD SCHOOL AND ORIGINAL. I HOPE SHE TRIES HER EFFORTS AGAIN. I WILL BE FIRST IN LINE TO BUY.

Free Music Review: The bomb
Hit: 5 Stars

This Cd is on of the best in my collection of music. It's a shame it didn't get the regonition it deserved. When I have friends over and they hear it, that ask who is that. When ever I travel out of town on a long ride, this cd goes with me. It's a musical mix of jazz, R&b,a little hip hop, and just staight out great music. Her voice is stong & clear. She has some great ballards(I'll be there), and (heaven) are my favorities!! Love you Andriana. A true music lover from Flint Michigan

Free Music Review: Pure Soul
Hit: 5 Stars

The CD is tight. Adriana smooth sultry vocals warms up a full range favor of R&B tracks on the CD.
No lame hooks just pure soulful vocals.
I am kinda dissapointed that this CD did not recieve enough
airplay on the radio it deserved in the DC area. I play this CD at dinner parties all the time and people say "who is that"!!

Free Music Review: Where Is She?
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a classic case of a terrific LP getting lost in the shuffle that is the current musical scene. This stunning 1996 release is one of the best album's you never heard, and that's quite a shame. For one, Craig T. Cooper plays guitar on many of these cuts and lends them an air of jazzy, highbrow elegance. Secondly, Dred Scott (of "Nuttin' Ta' Lose" fame) produces with a touch of brilliance, his hip-hop inspired beats are heavy and thumpin', but give the LP a rock-solid bottom end boom sorely missing from most modern soul. Last, but not least, Ms. Evans has a stunning voice that can either carress a note (notice her gentle phrasing on "I'll Be There" and the lilting "Looking For Your Love") wail to the heavens and shatter glass (the bangin', guitar driven "Love Me", my favorite track) or harmonize perfectly with subtle backgrounds ("Seein' Is Believin", "Hey Brother") even without actual lyrics on the choruses ("Reality") either way, the combination of these three elements makes for some of the best soul music you're likely to ever hear.
I sincerely hope that she releases a 2nd LP sometime in the near future, this self-titled debut pointed to the start of something truly special and it would be a shame to banish such a talented young artist into undeserved obscurity.
