Free Music Notes for Adriana EvansFree Music Review: Adriana Evans - actually 4.5 stars Hit: 4 StarsI wholeheartedly agree with all of the previous reviewers who proclaim that this artist is vastly underrated and majorly slept on! I tried to think back to 1997 to recall why Adriana Evans did not gain the kind of acclaim that Jill Scott & Erykah Badu did and I can't come up with a good reason other than lack of promotion by her label, which is a shame.
Adriana's lyrics are positive and lighten my mood whenever I listen to this disc, which is quite often! The music production matched with her excellent vocal ability is stunning on some tracks and although I found a couple of the tracks "filler-ish", I enjoyed the majority of this disc and since it is available, would highly recommend it.
My standout tracks are:
LOVE IS ALL AROUND - love how the song builds and the use of the horns in this song, it's just all around beautiful to listen to
I'LL BE THERE & LOVE ME - really showcase her gorgeous voice
HEAVEN - love the sentiment in this song
LOOKING FOR YOUR LOVE & TRIPPIN
I can't say enough good things about this disc but if you love Jill Scott's debut disc, then you'll probably fall in love with Adriana Evans if you give it a try!
Free Music Review: WOW! Hit: 5 StarsThis is one of the finest CD's ever recorded. Adriana's soulful sounds draws you in as you hear every note. I have had this CD on constant rotation for years. I search monthly to see if she has produced anything new. On the merits of this CD alone I would purchase any others she touches.
Free Music Review: Outstanding Hit: 5 StarsAfter appearing on Husband ; Dred Scott's 1994 classic "Check The Vibe", Adriana Evans finally dropped her long-awaited self-titled debut on Loud Records in 1997. The smooth, fresh & flawless vibes from Adriana against the phenomenally laid-back & refreshing production from Dred Scott (& co producer Rastine Calhoun)results in nothing less than a soul CLASSIC. Adriana has one of the most satisfying voices I have ever heard.
This album is ridiculously slept on, by both soul & hiphop fans alike. Stop sleepin' & become enlightened by Adriana Evans' undoubtable talent & Jonathan Scott's unappreciated brilliance on the boards. One of the best albums of 1997, regardless of genre.
P.S. Also check out Dred Scott's OOP 1994 Release "Breakin' Combs"...mid 90's hiphop at its finest. PEACE
Free Music Review: Soundtrack for Noah's Arc Hit: 5 StarsAdriana's CD was featured on Noah's Arc (LOGO network) soundtrack. She is a BEAST and I can not wait for the arrival of my copy!
Free Music Review: Positive Grooves Hit: 5 StarsAdriana Evan's cd is smooth, jazzy and distinct. A must have for those who favor upbeat, positive grooves. I had this cd in high school and lost it...After relocating it on Amazon, I had to have it back! If you really love jazz and R&B, this purchase is one you will not regret!
