Free Music Review: A -SMITH HAD IT RIGHT FROM THE START
Hit: 5 Stars

An amazing band these guys. Just read their incredible story in the book WALK THIS WAY. I've been into these guys since I was about ten years old and I tell ya, very rarely have they let me down.
I found this record in somebodys basement way back in the day. They told me I could have it and I went home and put it on. I played this record like thirty times a day for weeks. It rules. Initially my favorite track was DREAM ON (of course) but soon learned to love the bluesy tracks the most.
MAKE IT- good intro, not the strongest.
SOMEBODY- Decent riff, this was the bands warm up song.
DREAM ON- you gotta know this song. Its a classic staple.
ONE WAY STREET- AWESOME, nice and lengthy blues.
MAMA KIN- The other well known. A little overplayed but no doubt a great song.
WRITE ME- Very cool.
MOVIN OUT-The best song on the record. STEVE TYLERS vocals are a little lower than usual, just very cool stuff.
WALKIN THE DOG- The first three seconds are cheese, but it rips into the pattented A-SMITH riff rock that would make their follow up album GET YOUR WINGS one of the greatest blues rock albums of all time! Definately check that one out too, its got balls, man.

Anyway, most people get either TOYS or ROCKS first. Those are both exceptional albums but my faves are the first two. Steven Tyler sounds incredibly young compared to his gritty voice on every other album to follow. It's been said that A-SMITH themselves don't like this record and I think that's bogus. Of course they probably had no idea what they were doing recording this and makes them a little insecure. Theres no frills on this peice- You get strait A-SMITH 1973 style, they could have just splayed into a tape deck and made a killer album. THIS STUFF ROCKS!

Free Music Review: Great Debut for the Great band
Hit: 4 Stars

This is first Aersomith longplay, recorded after 2-3 years of playing in local clubs and small areas at Boston. This is very solid piece of work, and the music here is very unique, shows of what Aerosmith early inspirations were. The only two first longplays were rock n' rolly like this one, then the band turned more into playing hard rockin' stuff.
Let's get more into this one. This shows how great songwriter Steven Tyler was. He wrote almost entire material here, only movin' out is with help of Joe Perry and Somebody is written with a guy called Emspack (who the hell is he, I really don't know) and Walking The Dog is a blues cover. This is one of those albums that I like putting in and just let it go song by song. It's one of my Aerosmith favourite albums, amongst Rocks, Toys In The Attic, and Get Your Wings.

Make It. 9/10. Good opening to the album. Heavy, steady, go! Rockin' all night long with a nice solo to it.

Somebody. 10/10. Propably my favourite here! VERY cool riff, rock n rolling verses (I'm not quite sure about the chorus, but still it's okay) and a good solo (though sounds a bit too much like Led Zeppelin)

Dream On. 10/10. Classic ballad. No doubt about its perfection. Great climate, great riff, great heavy part, all is perfect. Impressive for Tyler (He wrote in in the age of 17)

One Way Street. 10/10. Another Aerosmith Gem. It sounds like dark, oldschool pub blues n' roll. And great harmonicas. And I don't think it's too long. For true Aerosmith fan it'll never get boring.

Mama Kin. 10/10. Classic rocker. I love this riff! One of first Aerosmith minor hits. And a habitue of aproximately all Aerosmith concerts.

Write Me A Letter. 8/10. Rock/Blues N' Roll simple pub song. Nothing special, but still cool.

Movin' Out. 8/10. More darker and mysterious. An early Aerosmith autobiographical song.

Walkin' The Dog. 10/10. Great Blues cover. Surpasses Rufus Thomas' original. One of the finest blues covers Aerosmith did.

I find this album really interesting and it's as well a good point to start for new aero fans, as well as it is a must have for fanatics.

Free Music Review: Great debut
Hit: 4 Stars

Aerosmith's debut is the epitome of raw, bluesy rock n' roll. This album isn't as hard as Rocks or Toys in the Attic and not overpolished as some of their 90's releases. These songs are rough around the edges, but in a good way. There is such energy and joy to these songs. Everyone knows Dream On and one of the greatest riffs in rock music, Mama Kin. But Movin' Out, One Way Street and Write Me a Letter are 3 of my other favorites. Write Me a Letter is a stomping blues song that some people don't like, but I love it. Tyler's vocals are different here than on any other Aerosmith release. It's a fuller sound, not as much screaming, like he hadn't decided to really let loose yet. Some people don't like it, but I do. It's one more thing that makes this CD interesting and sets it apart from all other Aerosmith music.

Free Music Review: A Great Start for America's Best Rock Band
Hit: 5 Stars

Aerosmith's self-titled album is a great start in their or any rock band's career. It features the classic hits Dream On and Mama Kin as well as smaller gems like Make It. Overall though not A-Smith's best a great album with great music. (Well most of it.):-). If Aerosmith hadn't made this one heaven knows where they'd be right now. (Doing Rags Music at Clinics.)

Make It was a great start to the album. It had all the A-Smith instrumentals and vocals you love but was lacking in some ways. Still a great #??? start up. I give Make It 4 stars.

Somebody was good too but not as good as Make It (Or Mama Kin and Dream On.) Another song with good guitar but not as good. Still worth 4 stars.

Dream On is one of the best Aerosmith songs ever. Possibly the best ever. A great vocal and percussion performance. A nice mid-song guitar solo. And the bass (If you can hear it.) Is good. Awesome Aerosmith song. 5+ stars. #1 on the album.

One Way Street is great!! I don't see what some people have against it! A great kind of darker, blues song. One of the most underrated gems in Aerosmith's history! Great song! 4 1/2 stars. All the music is in tune.

Mama Kin. We've had 4 awesome songs in a row so far. Mama Kin makes it 5 songs. This has a great guitar solo introduction. (The best of Joe and Brad.) And then Steven comes and does his thing. This is one of my all-time favorite A-Smith songs of the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 0s. 5 stars.

Write Me a Letter is kind of a disappointer. Good guitar in some places. And Steven did okay, but still it was bad. 3 1/2 stars.

Movin Out was good. Above Average guitar and bass. (Vocals and Drums too.) Other than that there's not much to say about it. A good above average song. 4 stars.

Walkin' the Dog is the worst on the album! Come on! It has terrible everything. Shame on Aerosmith for releasing this song. Come on Aerosmith! A bad song! Avoid it at all costs!!

Overall though their self-titled album was great, fantastic! (And bad boy words too.):-( That I can't say. A great album though!!!!!!! Best start I've ever seen! Worth the money x4!!!!!!!!!! This one was great!! :-) :-) :-)

Free Music Review: Some Things Just Never Get Old
Hit: 5 Stars

A band so amazing as Aerosmith will live on through the years to come and will always have an impact on their listeners. A work old as this never ceases to give the same awesome feeling as it did back in 1973. Aerosmith made their way to me throughout my early childhood years and has remained one of my favorite classic rock bands. Their songs and lyrics also are a personal influence on me as their words are provocative and is germane to so many things that I see and face in life. "Dream On" is one of the best examples as I can relate to it from a religious point of view from my faith. Their views on life and religion is so strikingly amazing that their works never become old; nevertheless, living through the past few decades have imbued on them what many of us young people have not seen or experienced in life. As their works continue to inspire me musically and mentally, Aerosmith will remain strong in the future as it did over three decades ago.
