Free Music Notes for Big OnesFree Music Review: The Greatest Hits From One Of The Greatest Bands Hit: 5 Stars
To have so many hits in such a short time is phenomenal but for them all to be absolutely great is quite something. But that's exactly what Aerosmith have achieved with Big Ones. Taking the hits from the albums Permanent Vacation, Pump and Get A Grip, Big Ones features some of the finest rock music from the late 80's and early 90's. With Steve Tyler's amazing voice and Joe Perry's great guitar playing this is one great combination that was always set to succeed and it isn't highlighted better than on Big Ones. From the classics like Love In An Elevator and Dude(Looks Like A Lady) to just hard rock of Livin' On The Edge and not forgetting one of Aerosmith's streghts the power ballads like Crazy, Amazing and Angel. Every song included here is worthy of its place and nothing seems out of place. If you like rock with attitude Aerosmith are for you. Eat The Rich is just plain simple fun and a great song and one of my favourites along with the amazing Amazing and the Grammy winning Janie's Got A Gun. However my favourite has to be Angel which is by far their best ever ballad and it sounds lovely and beautiful which is quite an achievement for a rock band. Also included is a live verison of Dude (Looks Like A Lady) which rounds things off a shows Aerosmith can rock live as well as in the studio. All in all this CD is barely out of my CD player as it is that good and should pretty much be in evrybody's CD collection let alone a rock fan's. Brilliant.
Free Music Review: "Great Ones" Hit: 5 Stars
Thats what this CD should be called! I have had this CD for many years now and I never get tired of it! This album consist mostly of Aerosmith's top singles released up to 1994. I have to admit that I wish that "Walk this Way" was on the album, but what can you do? I enjoy compilation CDs because every song is great! One of my favorite songs is on the album- "Livin' on the Edge", I think that this song is one of those classic s tunes that you can just jam out to while you are driving in your car. Another favorite of mine is "Amazing". Its another classic. I can remember the video so clearly, from when I was like 9 years old and watching MTV with my sisters. I love Aerosmith's sound. I have never heard a voice like Steven Tyler and Joe Perry is an amazing guitarist. I don't think that there is any other band out there that sounds similar to Aerosmith, they are in a genre all on their own. I am amazed at Aerosmith's ability to continue to rock out and continue to put out great music over so many years. I recommend this CD especially to someone that is just discovering Aerosmith, They will be able to hear some of the classics and "oldie but goldies" from them. If you buy this CD I hope you will cherish it for many years, like I have.
Free Music Review: Aerosmith at their finest Hit: 5 Stars
This is one of the better greatest-hits compilations that I have listened to, and I've listened to many. In my opinion, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry are rock's best one-two punch since Page and Plant, and I would use this album as Exhibit A in my case to support that statement. Unless you are a rabid Aerosmith fan (like me), just pick up this album and save yourself the money of buying Permanent Vacation, Pump, and Get a Grip. Big Ones showcases Aerosmith at their blues-rock-boogie finest, with classics like "Love in an Elevator", "Janie's Got a Gun", "Dude Looks Like a Lady", and "Eat the Rich" leading the way. The previously unreleased "Walk on Water" is a great cut, and should fall into your normal listening rotation. This album is strong from start to finish, packed full of 100% genuine American rock-n-roll, and should defintely endear Aerosmith to any music novices who are unititated to the band's music. Big Ones, packaged with Aerosmith's Greatest Hits, provides a great overview of the band's work and does a great deal to prove the fact that Aerosmith may be American's greatest rock band of all time.
Free Music Review: My Desert Island Disc... Hit: 5 Stars
Ah,Aerosmith, you know I never really heard much of them until seeing them on Wayne's World, and then hearing them play "Janie's got a gun" and I thought it was great. So I got "Toys In The Attic" on sale and I thought it was good but 9 songs wasn't enough,so then I got this, and my idea of rock was changed...forever. I was pleasantly surprised by hearing Janie's Got a Gun again, but I soon found "Love in an elevator" to be my favorite, and it still is.Walk on Water was a little too much for me at first, but after a while its proved to be one of my favorites still. If it's ballads you want "Crazy","Cryin'",and "What it Takes" is what you shall get.If you want an epic "Livin' on the edge" is the best you can get in the music buisiness. There are countless great dance songs here, such as,"Rag Doll","Dude(Looks Like a Lady)",and my favorite,"Love in an Elevator". There are 2 new songs here:"Walk on Water" and "Blind Man",but I don't really like Blind Man,and Walk on Water is kinda hardcore, but it's very good once you get used to it. So there you go,an excellent album with everything going for it:great singing, great music, and great attidude. What can I say but:Rock on!!!!
Free Music Review: Big indeed... Hit: 5 Stars
The first I'd heard Aerosmith and knew it was them was at MGM Studios in Disneyworld Orlando. The "Rockin' Roller Coaster" was awsome with a large speaker beside each of your ear blasting "Dude Looks Like A Lady" while going through corkscrews and 0 - 60 mph(in 2 seconds) accelerations!Anyways, Big Ones is a fine piece of work. It's nice and long and most of the songs I'd heard on the radio before buying it. The songs that go in the A-grade category are: Love In An Elevator, Rag Doll, Dude (Looks Like A Lady), Janie's Got A Gun (you've gotta love the "Run away, runaway from the pain" part), Cryin', Amazing, and Livin' On The Edge. The songs that go in the B-grade category are: Walk On Water (in my opinion, this is the best of the two new songs), What It Takes, Deuces Are Wild, The Other Side, Crazy, and Angel) Blind Man goes into my C, maybe C+ category. I usually skip this one, but you may like it. And then there's Eat The Rich...A++. Very good stuff. This CD is really well done and I like how it goes from a couple fast songs, to a couple mellow/ballad songs, than to some more energetic, and you get the picture.
