Free Music Notes for Honkin' On BoboFree Music Review: An eye opener Hit: 5 Stars
Long gevity is something that is hard to come by in the music industry. Which is why when you condier the extensive catalougue that Aersomith has put together, it's is amazing that they don't have a few albums that are stinkers. "Done with mirrors" is the only one that comes to mind off the bat. However, with that long life a band must reinvent itself to stay relevant. Aersomith do some amazing renditions of old blues staples on Honkin' on Bobo. "roadrunner" and "You gotta move" are the standout tracks. They just have an attitude of "F*ck you we're here to rock" that most albums lack now a days. I think it is important for people of my generation ( born in the 80's) to hear music like this to understand that rock music does not have to come from drop-C tuning, but in attitude. This is an instant classic, especially if you are into a pop blues-rock fusion album.
Free Music Review: "Honkin' On Bobo" shows old Aerosmith swagger Hit: 5 Stars
Personally, I think the title of this cd is hilarious, not stupid or silly. Aerosmith has never taken itself seriously. This is a great cd that returns Aerosmith to the days of "Walk This Way" and "Train Kept A Rollin'", while keeping it all current. This is blues done Aerosmith style, which is to have fun with the songs instead of staying true to them. Aerosmith has sounded tired lately, and this is the shot in the arm that this great band sorely needed. While these are blues songs, I don't consider this a "blues album." It's a great rock album, though, one that is constantly in my rotation. If you love old-fashioned Aerosmith, you will absolutely love this. Highlights are "Road Runner", "Eyesight To The Blind", "Baby, Please Don't Go", "You Gotta Move", and "The Grind."
Free Music Review: The album I wish the Rolling Stones would make Hit: 5 Stars
So you thought you have heard all these songs before. The Stones did 'Road Runner' half a century ago and could they really top AC/DC's version of 'Baby Please don't Go' ? The answer is 'Yes'. This CD really reminds me of the fantastic first two 'Aerosmith' albums with all the dirty guitar licks, the roaring drums and Steven's fantastic lead vocals. The arrangements are brilliant and the song selection is outstanding. Tracks like 'Shame, Shame, Shame' or 'I'm Ready' are fantastic and the highlight to me is the Stones cover 'You gotta move'. My advice to Mick Jagger and Keith Richards : "Go and listen to "Honkin' on Bobo" and forget everything you guys have recorded since 1981." How I wish the Stones would get down and dirty the way Aerosmith did on this album. For me, this is the first great CD of 2004 !
Free Music Review: medal OF honor Hit: 5 Stars
Really, this band deserves the MEDAL OF HONOR, for this album. How many bands have enough "GUTS and BRAVERY", to come out with a blues album and change the songs to there own HARD ROCK / BLUESY style? AND IT IS WONDERFUL. SO GOOD that STEVEN TYLER needs to be brave again and go to WAR with "ANOTHER ALBUM JUST LIKE THIS....another HONKIN ON BOBO ( AGAIN ). YEP, this stuff works......PLEASE AEROSMITH, MAKE VOLUME 2. This stuff has REAL STYLE ( alot of it ). Please spoil us AMERICANS again with another BLUES cover album/ hard rock aerosmiths style. I promise ,me and my friends will buy 3 apiece. This album, is something new to the rock world....YOU GUYS INVENTED IT. Keep it going on. LOVE IT, just love it. DO IT AGain. Title the volume 2....."BOBO's BACK". And I promise all the fans will be back , as well to buy another.
Free Music Review: Great Hit: 5 Stars
This is the best album Aerosmith has made in years. Although I would have preferred if they did their own songs, instead of some blues covers, there is nothing to complain about, except the gibberish title. Will someone please tell me what in the worls 'bobo' means? Well, enough with the criticism, let me get on to praising this like mad. Steven Tyler's vocals have never sounded so good since the 1970's. This album gives blues a kick in the butt. I was getting a little sick and tired of the band churning out pop albums in the 90's and early 2000's. This is the best album since 'Done With Mirrors'. The best songs are 'Road Runner', 'Baby Please Don't Go', and 'Jesus Is On The Main Line'. This is one of my favorite albums.
