Free Music Notes for O, Yeah! Ultimate Aerosmith Hits

Free Music Review: Truly The Ultimate
Hit: 5 Stars

Aerosmith is a band that has done more then stand the test of time, they have showed bands half their age how to really rock!
This collection 'O Yeah' shows them from the 70s beginnings all the way through the 90s and beyond!

I would recommend this collection to any Aerosmith fan and really any fan of music in general, but I would also recommend getting the other 'greatest hits' package 'Young Lust' because it features a lot of songs from their Geffen years that aren't included on this release...O Yeah focuses on the Columbia years (it has some Geffen years songs but not enough) and the combination of this along with 'Young Lust' would give anyone a perfect overview of this group of music legends
I would still tell people who can afford it to go out and buy the entire catalog because it's really worth it but having 2 CDs with all the great hits is very convenient to have in your car

there are some new re-mixes of songs from their more recent albums which makes this worth having for those (like me) that already have the whole catalog, but really the two new songs alone are worth buying this,Girls Of Summer and Lay It Down are both great songs..but Girls Of Summer is actually one of the best Aerosmith songs ever recorded
I don't know how they do it but this band gets better all the time! (with the one exception of 'honking on bobo' but I hope they learned from that disaster)...if anyone would walk up to you and ask who Aerosmith is,this and Young Lust are the CDS you should play for them!

The Upside - an almost perfect overview of a brilliant career! This covers the early years, the Geffen years, and the columbia years

The Downside - Missing some important Geffen years songs, they completely ignore 'Done With Mirrors' on this release, and 'Night In The Ruts' and 'Rock In A Hard Place'

The Bottom Line - If someone asks you who Aerosmith is,play this and Young Lust..these are great packages and well worth the price...donutman says so!!!

Free Music Review: Great compilation from America's greatest rock band
Hit: 5 Stars

Although missing a few Aerosmith fan favorites (e.g. "The Train kept a rollin'", "Kings and Queens" and "Come Together".) most of the songs here are not disappointments.
MAMA KIN. An Aerosmith classic that don't care for, and do not listen to.
DREAM ON. My favorite Aerosmith song. One of the best songs ever. The course has a strange additive affect.
SAME OLD SONG AND DANCE. Strong rocker with interesting lyrics.
SEASONS OF WITHER. Not one of my favorites. It does have some nice acoustic guitar.
WALK THIS WAY. Timeless classic, with cool riffs from Perry and screams only Tyler could do.
BIG TEN INCH RECORD. Good music, dumb lyrics.
SWEET EMOTION. Starts of odd and turns into a fabulous hard rock song.
LAST CHILD. I don't know if it's the fact that first part which I really like changes or I just don't like the the song that much that makes it a bit of a disappointment.
BACK IN THE SADDLE. Cool very fast rocker.
DRAW THE LINE. Not one I'm crazy about, but not bad. Similar to back in the saddle.
DUDE... Famous song. A little overrated, but good nonetheless.
ANGEL. Excellent power balled, with some good lyrics.
RAG DOLL. Everyone has heard or heard of this song and it still holds it's charm.
JANIE'GOT A GUN. My second favorite Aerosmith song. Serious lyrics from Tyler accompanied by a great guitar.
LOVE IN AN ELEVATOR. A hit yet also a bit overatted.
WHAT IT TAKES. Softer song from the boston boys, with traces of country and a cool guitar solo.
I'm not going to reveiw all the songs on the second disc I'm jusr going to say that it's just as good as NO.1. Highlights include AMAZING the best Aerosmith balled ever. PINK and JUST PUSH PLAY both of which are very underratted. The two new songs GIRLS OF SUMMER and LAY IT DOWN are good, the latter being one of Tyler's best vocals performances.

Free Music Review: An intentionally missing "H," apparently.
Hit: 5 Stars

My wife bought this collection, and it's turned out to be a good match for us, since I like the pre-1990 rock and roll songs and she likes the post-1990 ballads. We've pretty much adopted one disc apiece.

Even knowing as little as I do about Aerosmith (my favorite of their albums is still "Aerosmith," the first one), the ten-year gap in this collection is quite prominent. I'm inclined to wonder who actually compiled it--is the band "withdrawing" those years, or just the record label? Whoever it was, I'm tempted to respect their choice. The two songs immediatly preceding the omission sound noticably sloppy in comparison with the razor-sharp focus of the songs on either side. While they were certainly huge hits in the 1970s, they don't seem to have held up well: "Back in the Saddle" sounds particularly vapid and incoherent, and "Draw the Line" isn't much of an improvement. If this is a result of the drug use (and it probably is), I am also content to draw the curtain over the rest of the material from 1977 to 1987.

That being said, I couldn't resist looking up some of these "lost" albums (including "Night in the Ruts," for one, which has my favorite photos of the band, anyway), and sure enough, there were legions of the very truest fans, ready to defend every album, indeed, every song, to the death. Bless them all! There is music for everybody, and no one should tell you what to like. The real lesson here is that compilation CDs are not for fans, but rather "casuals" like my wife and I, who need a little extra, but not that much ("Sometimes you feel like a nut," after all). I get the impression that most of the critical reviewers of this collection would have been much happier taking a CD burner to their vinyl collection.

Free Music Review: Near-perfect introduction for the uninitiated (like myself)
Hit: 5 Stars

I think everybody who lives in America and owns a radio or television has heard an Aerosmith song, it's near impossible not to have. Like many, I knew of a handful of catchy, rockin' songs from classic rock radio and mp3 downloads. I was also somewhat confused as why not one retrospective had songs from their early and latter days on it, then I found out it was due to them changing labels in the mid-80s. This is the only Aerosmith compilation to feature songs from their Columbia and Geffen days on it and it makes a great buy for people who are interested in exploring their back catalogue, or just want those famous radio hits.

A seasoned Aerosmith fan might want this for the bonus tracks, the Run D.M.C. version of 'Walk This Way' and the two new songs, the single, 'Girls Of Summer' and the ballad 'Lay It Down. This also features the single from the Armageddon movie, 'I Don't Want To Miss A Thing.' A diehard might already have the soundtrack for that song or even the Run D.M.C. cd too but they're always nice to have grouped with other Aerosmith material. The remastered sound is loud and clear, a definite plus for audiophiles. The only glaring errors I see off-hand are the omissions of the popular 'Eat The Rich,' 'Toys In The Attic,' and their cover of 'Come Together,' songs even a beginner like me has heard on the radio. The latter two appear on the European import of this same compilation, but unfortunately you have to pay that European import price. Why the domestic release left those two songs off is beyond me. Aside from those minor negatives, this is the definitive Aerosmith compilation for beginners interested in America's ultimate rock 'n roll band.

Free Music Review: ALL CLASSICS ON THIS GREAT CD
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is way better than Aerosmith's greatest hits. It typical has more choices than that album. Aerosmith's greatest
hits had too much radio/single edits while this one has none.
This CD is strait right for every album. I'll review all of these
songs on the first disc, not all of them.

1. mama kin---okay, first classic available.

2. dream on---classic, intro, on the buick commercials

3. same old song and dance---this is the best song ever! i can
play this track over n over n over again.

4. seasons of wither---u get the feel of mount everest in this
track.

5. walk this way---instant classic. 2 on my list.

6. big ten inch record---nice, short song not too fast.

7. sweet emotion---now this is the best song ever, i like
this song better on toys in the attic than on this album.

8. last child---no no, sad start. bad end.

9. back in the god damn saddle---this song has lots of sex, drugs, violence, liquor, and alcohol. it's so mean. rocks has
lots of sex, drugs violence, liqour, and alcohol. but it's good
for the rocks of it.

10. draw the line---f'uck you.

11. dude look like a lady---this is my favorite song on this
compilation ever! I want to buy permanent vacation becuase this
song is so funny. i like how steven tyler does vocals in this
one. the vocals make me laugh. very good song.

14. janies got a gun---another great song.

overall great compilation.
