Free Music Review: BUY IT!
Hit: 5 Stars

Ummm, where do I begin?? This is the best album I have bought in at least a year. Oh, the Horns, they are freakin incredible. Guajiro Maribal is the best trumpet player in latin music. He ability to blend into the rest of the section and then tear it up amazingly in his solos is divine. His notes will give you shivers. And dont get me started about Ruben Gonzales, the best piano player alive. His musicality and use of chromatics going into and out of phrases is so perfect, I find my self humming his (and Maribal's) solos in my head all day. Plus Los Soneros add such a playful and personal touch to the album. I have been listening to this album for about five months, and I never get tired of it. In fact, I like it better each time. This is the most danceable music in the world, and anyone who is even remotely interested in latin musci should own it. There is no way you will not like this album!!! Buy it today, its good for you!!

Free Music Review: Just off the Hook!
Hit: 5 Stars

They be jammmmmmmin! Of particular note are (#1) Amor Verdadero, (#4) the tilte cut, (#6) Los sitio' Asereand, and (#9) Clasiqueando con Rubén. I'll tell you what... if I could Salsa dance, this would definitely keep me happy. But hey... even if you can't dance (like me), the music is just beyond outstanding. The horns really pump and the arrangements and syncopation are fabulous while the contrasting rhythms just totally gets your blood pumpin.

The worst thing (if you can really call it bad) about (Good) afro-cuban music is that you will be unable to concentrate on anything else while it's playing. So I don't recommend putting it on as background music because everything else will be soon forgotten as the sound just takes a hold of you and doesn't let go. There just isn't a bad cut on the entire disc.

A must for any TRUE music lovers collection.

Free Music Review: Recommended only if you're in one of these two categories...
Hit: 5 Stars

Honestly, I can think only of two groups of people who will enjoy this recording, and if you're in either group, I urge you to order it immediately if not sooner.

If you're one of those totally or mostly unfamiliar with Cuban jazz, you'll love this. It's a celebration of life, full of good humor and vigor. The excitement of the music is bound to get to you, and you'll wonder why you've never given it a chance before.

On the other hand, you might be quite familiar with this sound, with the vocals of veterans such as Ibrahim Ferrer, Pio Leyva, Manuel 'Puntillita Licea, Raul Planas, Jose Antonio 'Maceo' Rodriguez, and Felix Valoy, and with the full sound of trumpets, teombones, enhanced by sax, flute, and piano. If so, you'll find this the best you've heard, and will insist on its being in your collection.

If you're in neither group, well, what can I say?

Free Music Review: A wonderful selection of Cuban music
Hit: 5 Stars

This is real Cuban music. The original source of all the Salsa, good and bad, that you hear these days. But it has a feeling of quality that you don't hear in today's salsa, being this feeling the flavor of the "real thing". If you like music that is a must to dance and at the same time doesn't tire you to listen over and over, buy it. I must also recommend wholeheartedly the Buena Vista Social Club CD (of course) and even more than that, the "Introducing Ruben Gonzalez" CD, which in my opinion is not for 5, but for 10 stars. The 3 CD's (but mainly Ruben's) left you with this unmistakable feeling of having listened to something unique, the feeling of the music having turned you into a better human being; the same feeling I get when I listen to, for instance, a good version of Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.

Free Music Review: simply the most uplifting album of all time!
Hit: 5 Stars

As every other reviewer has said, ATCLG just gets inside you from the first listen and makes you jump up and dance. The only issue i have is that nobody seems to have mentioned "Alto Songo" or "Elube Chango", which to me are the two most infectious songs; Alto Songo has 4 great vocalists, a wonderful slide guitar solo from Ry Cooder and a piano solo. It then finishes with a rousing combination of all the aforementioned elements. Elube Chango has such instinctively excellent trumpet and percussion, it stays with you long after the album has finished.

This is undoubtledly the best upbeat album i have heard, better than buena vista; if you haven't got it yet, WHY NOT??
