Very well put together! I am glad I found this album.
Air Traffic has a very contemporary feel, with influences from every corner of contemporary rock and music. Many of their songs have an Oasis/Radiohead/Coldplay/Franz Ferdinand feel, yet they are more technically proficient than Coldplay, and have more creative compositions than Oasis or Coldplay.
I love that there is a whole range of songs on this album and not just the "same theme song" rehashed 12 different times. I hope their future albums keep this level of diversity.
Fractured Life Poster
Air Traffic's Fractured Life is a debut album of brilliant, occasionally brutal, mood music. The group's nameoriginated from its rehearsals in an abandoned industrial unit near the runway at Bournemouth International
Airport, where air traffic control signals could be picked up on the band's equipment. While recording
the album, an EP of four of the tracks was released in October 2006 in the U.K. In addition, Air Traffic also had
its first television appearance in November 2006 when the band appeared on Later with Jools Holland which paved the way for the release of the album Fractured Life in July 2007.
Many of the songs on Fractured Life, like Never Even Told Me Her Name, describe the feelings of breathless anticipation the band registered once the four 21-year olds sensed their career taking off. Another of the songs charting the band's ascent was Shooting Star, a sublime melody poised on the edge of a maelstrom of rock and roll theatrics. From the sexual euphoria of Charlotte to the bleak introspection of Empty Space, to the heart-pumping brand new US track Come On.
2008 US version of their 2007 debut album includes one bonus track, 'Come On'. 2007 saw them do a host of UK tours, including dates with Ghosts, the Pigeon Detectives and Snow Patrol. Features 12 tracks including the singles 'Charlotte' and `Shooting Star'.
