Free Music Notes for Lay It DownFree Music Review: The Best since... Hit: 5 Stars
Man, I am 28 and have been buying Al since I was 13. This is my fave cd of his since Your Hearts In Good Hands. Collaborations work very well with him, and I was really excited to hear Anthony on there. You have got to get this cd. It has such a smooth flow to it. If you have anything else of Al's, you have to add this to your collection. Lay it down reminds me of Simply Beautiful, and I love the song with Corrine. I just love Al and I feel that after seeing him in concert, the only thing else I have to do is go to Full Baptist Tabernacle. I'm Memphis Bound People.... Lay it Down!
Free Music Review: Wow Hit: 5 Stars
I had written Al off to the Aretha Franklin category: all-time great singer, still listenable, but well past their prime. Shows (once again) what I know! This disc unquestionably compares with anything in Green's discography, which is saying a lot given the incredible streak he and Willie Mitchell (producer) achieved back in the 70s. This is like a nice fatty pork shoulder, rubbed-down with one of those secret Memphis spice mixtures, and cooked all night over hickory wood. It's sweet and falling off the bone. (Sorry, I just couldn't resist that). VERY fine stuff.
Free Music Review: He's still the one Hit: 5 Stars
I purchased this CD for the song with Corinne Bailey Rae, but I got so much more. Al Green had songs with Anthony Hamilton and John Legend as well. I don't think I would call this classic Al Green,(though some of the beats reminded me of some of his former songs),but I believe Mr. Green has put his signature on today's music. I absolutely love this CD-I play it almost every day. Of course, most of the songs are love songs, with the kind of words women want to hear. This is a "sittin' on the back porch, in the evening, with a glass of lemonaid", CD.
Free Music Review: Grammy! Hit: 5 Stars
HEED MY WORDS: Al Green will definitely win a Grammy off this CD!
This is vintage Al Green at his best an excellent production of new school material that has Al Green sounding like he was 35 years ago.
My favorite song off this Cd is "Stay With Me (By The Sea)" f John Legend but the other 10 songs are off the hook.
Nothing against Al Green the Gospel Singer but I've always related better to Al Green the R&B Singer and thats why I give this Cd 5 stars.
Go Cop it!
Free Music Review: Lay It Down, Let It Go, Fall In Love...With Al Green Hit: 5 Stars
It's strange to hear people talk about Al's "come Back" with this compilation.
In my opinion, he never left the stage. This group of recordings is vintage
Al: smooth, seamless, timeless. He's the Master of Soul, and if you love the
Reverand's previous works, you'll not regret adding this one to your collection.
I simply can't take this disc out of my player. I'm purchasing it for two friends
who I know will be thrilled with it. Bravo Al! Keep Standing in the Rain!
