Free Music Review: Swept away Hit: 5 Stars
Omigosh! I have been swept away by this CD. Well worth the wait.
Free Music Review: Great to see Al back in the groove! Hit: 4 Stars
I have been a Jarreau fan since my freshman year in college(1983). The first album I ever bought was "Jarreau" followed closely by "This Time" and "Breakin' Away." This album takes me back to those days more than any other Jarreau album in-between. He has finally left all of the pandering to the pop audience behind and concentrated on the music, like he did on the previously mentioned albums. I think this is probably a bit of influence from GRP. What great news to see Al on that label! I am looking forward to many other tremendous projects resulting from that pairing. If you are new to Jarreau, start with this album. Once you learn to love him, you must add "Jarreau," "Breakin' Away," "This Time," "We Got By," and "Tenderness" to your collection. Do yourself a favor and don't spend your money on "High Crime" or "L is for Lover." There are probably two good songs on both of those albums combined. Welcome back, Al. What a pleasure it is to hear you again the way God intended you to sing.
Free Music Review: great music, good mood, too much drum programming Hit: 4 Stars
I've been an Al Jarreau fan for many years, and I love his superb unique voice, my favourite albuns being "This Time","All fly home" and "Breakin'Away". Tracks like "Fly", "Alonzo", "Spain", "Roof Garden", "We're in this love together" are some of the most beautiful I ever heard. This new CD carries me back a little bit to those good old days. There are great tracks like "Tomorrow today", "Flame", "Something you said", but it's a pitty though with so many great drummers you have in America (such as Steve Gadd) 7 out of the 11 tracks have "drum programming". I hate "drum programming", I love drummers. I'm sure it's not your fault, Al, perhaps your just chose the wrong producer. Nevertheless your voice heals it all!...
