Free Music Notes for Miss Saigon (Original 1989 London Cast)Free Music Review: The Musical Masterpiece Hit: 5 Stars
I am a fan of Broadway Musicals and I own most of them on Cd's. Boublil and Shönberg are the best, especially when it comes to Miss Saigon. Music and lyrics are wonderful. The performances are Excellent! Lea Salonga, Claire Moore and Simon Bowman, with their extraordinary voices, make you feel what they are feeling. They sing with the heart. It is difficult to choose a favorite song because ALL are TERRIFIC! . Nevertheless, "The movie in my mind", sung with magnificence by Isay Alvarez (what a GREAT voice! ) and Lea, is a GEM; as well as "The last night of the world", "I still believe" and "This is the hour". A SUPERB production with the perfect cast. A musical with all the ingredients to be A MASTERPIECE!
Free Music Review: Wonderful Hit: 5 Stars
Personally, I think this is the best musical I have ever heard. Claude-Michel Schonberg is a real master at this genre of music. Lea Salonga is the best ever Kim by far, Simon Bowman's voice really grows on you after a while. Jonathon Pryce is not really brilliant but still puts up a good show. Claire Moore is to me the best in it. Her voice is brilliant and even though she isn't in it alot she is still wonderful. Peter Polycarpou is brilliant in Bui-Doi but not very good in the rest of it. Keith Burns always seems to have lost his voice but in This Is The Hour he helps alot to make it the best song in the show. The soundtrack is brilliant and really worth listening to. P.S. If you can see the show, it is a stunna.
Free Music Review: Better than the 95 Studio Cast CD Hit: 5 Stars
Wow! This CD is better than the 95 Studio Cast in my opinion except for two things: Lea Salonga and Johnathan Pryce. Joanna Ampil has a better voice and I like her better than Lea in all of the songs with the exception of "You Will Not Touch Him." I don't like Jonathan Pryce - he just isn't right for the Engineer - but I can listen to him without any horrible complaint except that Kevin Gray is a much better actor/singer. Everyone else, Simon Bowman, Claire Moore, Peter Polycarp., andKeith Burns are AWESOME! They all knock down the actors of their characters in the 95 Studio Cast. So, get this CD and you'll fall in love with Miss Saigon even if there are a few flaws.
Free Music Review: The perfect cast Hit: 5 Stars
Lea is the best Kim ever and she has the most phenomenal voice to ever own. As what Cameron says "She has a voice of an angel with a stamina of Pavarotti". I love the way she screams "We must leave tam and I...." i love the duet.. "i still believe, sun and moon, the movie in my mind, this is the hour.. they say that she sang too breathy in "djui vui vai" but its how it should be.. like an angel singing/whispering. Simon.. I love his voice but kinda pretty and sometimes sounds like a girl to me. Claire... She has a good voice.. i love her duet with Lea.. but she sounded too old to be Chris wife.. Jonathan.. i love his voice.. but i dont think he fits the role..
Free Music Review: OUTSTANDING! Hit: 5 Stars
This is such an incredible CD! Miss Saigon is by far my favorite musical ever. Simon Bowman has sort of a sweet, interesting voice. It's pretty original, and having listened to the soundtrack day in day out forever I've gotten used to his voice. Peter Polycarpou I didn't like or dislike, and though others may argue, Jonathon Pryce is just not my favorite Engineer. But Keith Burns was pretty good and Claire Moore was singing beautifully. But the one who totally stole the show was Lea Salonga. Her voice is unreal. It's heavenly! She's incredible in this part! Anyone who either likes Lea, Miss Saigon, or has the slightest bit of interest in theatre for that matter, will love this CD!
