Free Music Notes for Good Time AlbumFree Music Review: "Good Time" is a "good" album 3 1/2 stars Hit: 3 Stars
Alan Jackson. I have been hearing the name for years, and on my quest to expand my music taste as far as it will stretch, I thought it would benefit me to finally take a listen to someone I had been hearing about for so long. What I heard was not only impressive and entertaining, but this album also heightened my appreciation for country music. Alan Jackson has a unique way of telling a story through song; every singer cannot do that but he does it very effectively and that is one of the things that stood out while I was listening to this album. Also, his lyrics are honest. They are sometimes basic and sometimes profound, but the sincerity in his songs is always apparent. His country tenor exudes plenty of personality and his constant use of the guitar help to give his sound distinction.
"Good Time" is a lengthy piece of work. In fact, I had to listen to it in increments, but do not allow that to be a deterrent for purchasing this album for it is worth your money. Ballads, mid-tempos and up-tempos are all present. Sometimes the production simulates, but that's not a major issue, especially on a 17 track album. "1976" is an amusing number, but enjoyable, nonetheless. Jackson tells his listener that he can remember trying to gain the interest of a young woman and what he did to get her to notice him. I had to chuckle while this song played--it's so cute! Jackson's love songs are magnificent. Martha McBride lends her talents on "Never Loved Before", and together, she and Jackson made magic! Their delivery is amazing, particularly because they harmonized well and the lyrics were touching. "If Jesus Walked the World Today" has Jackson again singing those creative lyrics and telling a story like only he can. "I Still Like Bologna" is great, too. Jackson may be a popular country singer, but he still yearns for the simple things in life such as a sandwich on white bread. See just how honest he is? It's a wonderful thing.
I highly recommend this album! Give this album a chance because Alan Jackson is sure to impress you with his undeniable talent.
