Free Music Review: A nice collection of songs, plus one of the best songs I've ever heard
Hit: 4 Stars

Flavors of Entanglement is an enjoyable CD. There are certainly high and low points, as with any Alanis CD - I love "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie" and think it is her best, but even that disc had some pretty weak songs - but overall, pretty solid.

"Torch", however...well. Much more than solid. One of the best songs I have ever heard. I've heard that it's about the "death" of her relationship with Ryan Reynolds, but it can be interpreted in several different ways, and any way you want to take it, it's amazing. Without "Torch", I'd probably give this CD 3 stars...that song alone is worth an extra star. Just incredible. The piano, the plaintiveness of the verses, the raw emotion and power of the chorus...look, you need to listen to it. Right now. Seriously. Stop reading this review and go listen to "Torch".

Free Music Review: Disregard the 'naysayers'
Hit: 4 Stars

This is about the fourth time I've listened to this CD and I keep waiting for it to sour on me. Instead I keep wanting to come back to it more and more. I read the negative reviews prior to buying this CD and I've got to tell you I'm not seeing their negativity. Ya there's electronica/pop/emo leanings here but the music & lyrics are still great. I'm partial to 'Under Rug Swept' & 'Jagged Little Pill', I also enjoyed 'So Called Chaos'. If you feel the same way...do yourself a favor and seek this cd out you won't regret it.

Free Music Review: The standard for all EMO girls returns
Hit: 4 Stars

Someone once said all the "it girl" singers live in fear that Alanis Morrissette will walk into the room. That still rings true. A beautiful voice, dynamic, yet subtle singing. Grab you by the throat lyrics. Alanis remains a cut above. She's been away too long. Check out "Madness" if you doubt her skill set. Thank you Alanis. Ryan's a fool!

Free Music Review: Alanis is Back
Hit: 4 Stars

The first few songs are hard-hitting and ring in your head. The last half of the cd is now growing on me, as the sound of the cd, overall, is great. I'm sure this has a lot to do with the producer of the cd, who used to be part of Frou Frou, with Imogen Heap. This is a suitable sound for the modern Alanis.

Free Music Review: Alanis got this one backwards.
Hit: 4 Stars

I have really enjoyed this new album from Alanis. The funny thing is 80 percent of the time I am listening to the bonus disc. It has the best songs on it, which the people who bought the regular album are missing out on. How did this happpen?
