Free Music Review: A Life-Changing Cd....
Hit: 5 Stars

I just got this cd and listened to it for the first time today. I heard the song, "Blue Mind" on the radio 2 nights ago and was so taken by it, I had to search for this cd on amazon.com to hear snippets of the rest. I also recognized the song, "Orange Sky" from the Garden State soundtrack - another true gem of the music world.

Alexi Murdoch, with a light Scottish accent in his truly beautiful singing voice, truly understands the art of songwriting and tone. Evoking the spirit, to me, as a mix of Colin Hay and Nick Drake, this cd definitely evokes emotion and makes you feel so at peace wherever you are.

After popping the cd in for the first listen, and hearing only 1/2 of the first song, "All My Days," I was instantly in love. I cherish this cd, and I've only owned it for about 21 hours!

Free Music Review: Beautiful and contemplative
Hit: 5 Stars

I was turned onto this cd by a dear friend as I had a two hour car ride through scorching southwestern Nevada ahead and she felt it would be a great soundtrack for the ride. She was absolutely right.
These eleven songs are quiet, evocative, and emotionally charged songs full of beauty and simple grace. There are some that were a bit out of character from the rest, but overall, this is a treat. Listening to the cd as the stark brown desert passed by my windows was a moving experience I will not soon forget.
If you want further proof that this cd is powerful, I literally sobbed as I listened to "Wait." I can't think of even a handful of songs that have done that to me in my entire four and half decades of life.
Safe to say that the next time she recommends a cd, I'm all over it.

Free Music Review: Alexi Murdoch - A real winner!
Hit: 5 Stars

I first heard this artist in the recent movie Away We Go, and thought at first it was Nick Drake doing the music. When I waited through the credits to confirm my suspicions, I was surprised to see Alexi Murdoch's name. I absolutely LOVE this cd, and listen to it in the car all the time, where the mellow tones of his voice are even more intense. The only track I didn't like was track 3, Home, which is a cacophany of sound, with annoyingly repetitive lyrics. I find it in sharp contrast to all of the other tracks, which are melodic, lyrical, and sometimes folksy tunes, and my favorite is track 2, Breathe. I highly recommend this cd and look forward to future works by this artist.

Free Music Review: Real music, soulful and true
Hit: 5 Stars

I discovered Alexi through CDBaby, he was the top-selling artist on there for a very long time (until his original EP was no longer available) and one can understand why. His music is soulful and true. It inspires and consoles me. A further plus is the analog recording, which adds a warmth and depth absent from modern-day recordings. (It also proves that we are dealing with true talent here, there's no pitch-correcting and pro-toolsing an analog recording ;-)

If you feel saddened by the lack of truth in modern pop music or have lost hope that there are true artists left in this world, but this CD and it will restore your faith.

Free Music Review: Addictive
Hit: 5 Stars

I love the production of this thought provolking work, but sadly it effects my mood too much and I need to put it away... its a powerful collection of music that rattles my cage, but I'm not sure of what makes this album a little haunting. I would buy it, listen and decide for yourself... he's definitely a star on the rise and I strongly recommend everyone listen and see what you think.

Did know he was friends with some of the other artists I enjoy, but it makes sense.... misery loves company.

A great soundtrack for the day after your left by the one you love.

Ian
