Free Music Review: Alice is back
Hit: 4 Stars

Except for the orchestra, it's old school 70's Alice. The guitar sound isn't quite the same, but the ballads are there, the theatre is there, and the 70's style Alice Cooper concept album has returned. Love it to death.

Free Music Review: Core Alice Coooper material
Hit: 4 Stars

This album has the signature Alice Cooper theme. It is a very well written album with hard and heavy tracks. Existing Alice fans will love it and new Alice fans should gather and then understand the Alice character.

Free Music Review: He's back.
Hit: 4 Stars

A decent album that takes a few listenings to to get the feel for. Not his best album by any means, but hey it's Alice Cooper so you know it's going to grow on you and never leave your brain no matter what.

My husband is a huge Alice Cooper fan and he says this one is one of his best.

Free Music Review: Can't Take My Ears Off It
Hit: 4 Stars

I don't know if anyone will love "Spider" right out of the box. There are no catchy anthems, no "School's Out" or "No More Mr. Nice Guy", and there are no theatrical extravaganzas ala "Dead Babies", "Dwight Fry", "Years Ago/Steven", and "I Love the Dead." But it is a theme album, and nobody does it better than Alice.

The first 3 tracks are the strength of the disc. "Wake the Dead" is easily the cream of the album. What a great song! "Killed By Love" is a nice ballad in the "Only Women Bleed" vein, and sounds a lot like a later John Lennon song, only without the simple-minded sappiness.

You have to keep listening to let the rest of the disc sink in to really appreciate how good it is. "Wrapped in Silk" is a standout, and seems destined to become a stage classic, as I believe there is a lot of opportunity in this one for lengthy theatrics.

Overall, while not great musically (the same could be said for "Welcome to My Nightmare"), I think this will excel as a stage show and I can't wait to see it. Alice's spoken word epilogue sets the stage nicely ("Eight legs, one body..." Sweet!). This is definitely Alice being Alice.
