Free Music Review: The reason it went #1
Hit: 5 Stars

After listening to this extravagate album, I found out that this is a masterpiece. For people who believed that Dirt was their best album, they are totally wrong. Alice in Chains, also known as "Tripod," has it all. From the opening track "Grind," it shows that they are not afraid to mix in melodic with heavy riffs. The combination of Layne Staley's and Jerry Cantrell's vocals make it very creepy, yet soothing. Songs like "God Am," "Shame in You," "Frogs," and "Over Now," prove that Alice should keep on writing and creating new albums. Other critics believe that "Tripod" isn't as good as "Dirt." It can't get any better than "Tripod." This album is much more sophisticated and well crafted. If they can make pointless songs such as "Nothin' Song stick to your mouth like peanut butter on the brain," then they have done a heck of a job. If you are a regular Alice in Chains fan, then definitely get this album. If not, get "Dirt," "Jar of Flies," or "Unplugged" first because this is an album that takes a while to get into. It is very weird, but great.

Free Music Review: Alice In Chains Last Masterpiece!!!!!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

These past days Ive been into Alice in Chains and I listened to every cd and we're to their last cd sefl titled. this in my opinion is Alice In Chains darkest album to date with songs like "Over Now", "Sludge Factory", "Again", and "Head Creeps" but with the brain behind the band Jerry Canrel on the guiar you can't loose buyin this album. The 1st single of the cd is "Again" which is an awesome song and very heavy taking them back to awesome songs like "Would?" and "Man In The Box". Lane Stayel's vocals are just haunting in all of his work. the 2nd single off the album is "Heaven Beside You" which is another awesome single from the mind of Jerry Cantrel. Heaven Beside You has an awesome chorus to it and the lyrics just rock. the 1st song off the album called "Grind" sounds like the song "Would?" and every other song is just awesome in Alice In Chains last masterpiece. If you love Alice In Chains I recomend you pick up their unplugged album or any other live albums b/c they are one of the best bands live and I've seen em. Alice In Chains Music Review: Awesome disc
Hit: 5 Stars Rock and grunge fans all probably mourning the death of Alice frontman Layne Staley. I actually had not listened to this album until I heard of Layne's death, and now I wish he was around to make more! It is a slightly muddy mix of hard rock, grunge, and an Ozzy-meets-Mike Patton vocal style. "Grind" is possibly the best song I have ever heard! "Head Creeps" and "Nothin' Song" are also very solid tracks, but so is the rest of the album. The music is slightly gloomy, making the listener feel like there is a storm going on, with bottles and waste flowing away. That might be a stupid analogy, but that's how I heard it. Jerry Cantrell's solos are, unlike the rest of the songs, almost majestic, with no gloominess involved. Even the packaging is very unique, showing a mutated man with three legs on the back (he was actually a real person) and a 3-legged dog on the front. An awesome cd is this, recommended to rock fans of old and new music.

Free Music Review: A slight change of style makes for another great album.
Hit: 5 Stars

I heard someone say that this was a big change from Facelift and Dirt but trust me it isnt all that different. They just toned down the metallic rockers a little bit and added some Sap and Jar Of Flies style songs on here as well. While it isnt as dark and heavy as Facelift or Dirt it is just as good. Its still pretty heavy too.Just more melodic. My favorite songs on here are Brush Away,Heaven Beside You and Sludge Factory even though the other songs are really good too.Nothin song is catchy but goofy and Grind is one of Alice In Chains' best songs.Head Creeps and Again are Alice In Chains classics and the heaviest songs on the album. Shame In You and God Am are great songs and have insightful lyrics. So Close is pretty good but doesnt do much for me.Frogs and Over Now are a lot like the songs on Sap and Jar Of Flies only a little better. This is a great album even though Alice In Chains never really made a "bad" album. Its a classic.

Free Music Review: How could this be anything less than 5 stars
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is the work of genious's in Layne Staley, Jerry Cantrell and Co. Every song has the bit between the teeth. The album has everything desired in a classic rock album. A mix of climaxes in the form of 'Again' that keeps you listening time after time, the blend of mellow rock within 'Heaven Beside You' and 'Over Now' and the deep and powerful droning of tracks such as 'Sludge Factory'. Layne Staley's voice penetrates throughout the album, brilliantly bending notes and screeching that marks all of his work. Only a tragic death has prevented Staley and Alice in Chains in general in moving onto bigger things. Your Rock collection is lonely without this album. The Self titled 'Alice in Chains' Dwarfs other albums in quality even ones such as 'The Best Of' and 'Facelift' (also works of Art), and matches, if not betters, dare i say it, 'Dirt'. A 'MUST BUY' especially for Alice in Chains fans.
