Free Music Notes for Alice in ChainsFree Music Review: alice in chains were great ( RIP Layne Staley ). Hit: 5 Stars
well to tell you the truth in my oppinion there hasn't been a better album since alice in chains 1995 release, grind/tripod, it was a really great album and no band has been able to match the quality of music that's on the album in a decade, thats a pretty bad thing when you think about it , in ten years there hasnt been a band that even comes close to being as good a aic was, although there are a lot trying like say for instance breaking benjamin, disturbed, seether even though they are a nirvana wanna be, and v shape mind but if your a person that likes well written music and you dont already own this cd i say you should pick it up and give it a try,, you wont be disapointed.

Maybe its the neon colors (florescent yellow plastic, and cd case) Neon Purple and Lime green disk that make this album just seem bright in my head. But this album just is more perkier, shall I say? Grind, God Am, Heaven Beside you,etc are the best tracks, and the one's that stand out to me. I love this album, almost as much as I love Dirt. Layne Staley was to me, the most pain-stricken, talented singer we had. He was more talented than Kurt Cobain, sure he didnt play guitar as much, he was a drummer. Him and Jerry Cantrell were a driving force in great music. Its a shame we lost him. But we have his amazing vocals, jam packed on what a dozen, recordings. Thank you Layne.
Free Music Review: Perhaps the quintessential AIC album Hit: 5 Stars
Fans didn't know what to expect in '95 from Alice in Chains prior to this release. After "Jar of Flies," rumors swirled that they had "gone mellow." However, the self-titled "Alice in Chains" dispelled those rumors with such efforts as "Again", "So Close", "Grind", and "Sludge Factory." The band presents their trademark brooding sadness as well with tunes such as "Shame in You", "Over Now," and the radio-friendly "Heaven Beside You." With eerie harmonies and layers of guitar riffs, AIC fans will find this album to be worth their money and quite memorable. Knowing the band's history at this point in time makes this album and its themes even more haunting. A must have!
Free Music Review: Don't Look So Closely!! Hit: 5 Stars
The 3 legged dog can stand because he finds a center of gravity and makes the most out of his disability by shifting the weight of his head over the one remaining leg. Nothing more. And thats what AIC did here. Great album. You whiners at the death of grunge show your green. AIC will remain one of the all time greatest. Layne Staley was a "member" of the band not unlike the missing leg on the dog. Having been a Heroin Hero for 7 years, way back before it was chic or cool, I can say that it really made no difference to the music. It stands. A guy died cause he had too much of a good thing. Simple as that. Enjoy the music and don't look for something that isn't there.
Free Music Review: A great and fitting cumulative effort from those guys Hit: 5 Stars
Frustration, dispossesion, inner turmoil: these are the emotions so effectively conveyed by Layne, Jerry & co. Who can forget the epic Shame In You? It is a track so powerful it reduced me to tears as I meditated on my own life. Once again(again & again & again) AIC have hit the mark with their trademark harmonizing and distorted vocals. Jerry's crunching guitar noise is the perfect foil for Layne's whiny voice. One of the great records of the nineties ranking alongside the best of PJ, Soundgarden and of course AIC's Dirt and Jar of flies. Please let this record grow on you as it did on me. 5 stars!!!
