Free Music Notes for Nothing SafeFree Music Review: What is creativity? Hit: 5 Stars
It's been proven that people (such as heroin addicts) who gain success while battling with an addiction will never achieve the same force of will or drive after they quit whatever it was they were doing. The creative and inspiring part of alice n chains died with the drugs and now they are left with producing only skeletal fragments of what was some of hardest grundge music to hit Seattle. The boys of Alice N' Chains have definitely had their day and now all we can do is just look back on what was and what will never be ever again. If they just want some money, they should do a live album like Pearl Jam did and play only songs that really rocked and were written under the influence you know what. The 60's weren't around for nothing. By the way, what happened to that solo career Jerry?
Free Music Review: The best grunge band Hit: 5 Stars
I'm not too much into grunge. I didn't really care for Pearl Jam and I only liked a few Nirvana songs. But Alice In Chains was diffrent from those bands. They were more darker and had way better solos. Jerry Cantrel is an amazing guitar player and probably the best one in grunge.Layne Staley also had an amazing voice. It's ashame that he's gone but may his spirit live on. This best of the box set has all of the famous Alice in Chains songs. Some of the best songs in my opinion are Man In The Box, Would, Them Bones, Rooster, and Down In A Hole. 17 songs all for anyone who likes Alice In Chains or maybe just a few songs. If your barley getting into this band than I start off with this collection album. Every song is original just like the band and that would never change.
Free Music Review: Great AIC Intro Hit: 5 Stars
First off, I'm not a very big 'Alice In Chains' fan, possesing only this album, but I really enjoy it, and probally will be making a few musical purchases soon. Ever song has the making of a classic, every song a hit. 'The Best of the Box' has been a great introduction to one of 90's best bands, very audience-friendly. I love every song. Up here in Seattle, AIC has this wharehouse they practice at all the time, and if you get close enough, you actually here them rehearsing. Who knows, maybe one day it'll lead to a number one album. If you're a Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, or Creed fan, and don't aleady own this, give the guys a break, and add some Alice in Chains to your music collection. BTW if you like AIC, check the new band U.P.O. for a breath of fresh air.
Free Music Review: Darkest of the era Hit: 5 Stars
From the beginig Alice in Chains was unique because the were way under the radar sceen compared to Nirvanna and Pearl Jam.
Layne Staley was dark and lost in the world of addiction. This cd covers the brief but amazing career of a very talented band that never really recieved all the recognition they deserved.
They were heavy and the were melodic. The voice was haunting and the music was dynamic. Through it Staly sang of his fight with demons (i.e.."down in a hole", "would", "what the hell have I").
After his death we all learned the impact that Alice in chains really had on music.
This cd is really good. It covers alot of awesome music. If you are a fan try this one. Its better than most greatest hits cds you will see.
Free Music Review: I'm glad they're still around! Hit: 5 Stars
I've never been a fan of "greatest hits" collections, but this one is killer! The obvious highlight is "Get Born Again", simply because it's a sign that the band is still productive and has not vanished. There are other high points as well: a gripping live version of "Rooster" and "What the hell have I" (this is a high point to me, because "What the hell have I" was previously available only on a sountrack and I simply refuse to purchase soundtracks). The demo version of "We Die Young" is a bit too 80's for my taste, but this is to be expected considering when it was recorded. Aside from that, it was well worth the $$$. Buy this CD!
