Free Music Notes for The Diary of Alicia KeysFree Music Review: This CD is a strong sophomore effort Hit: 5 Stars
Grammy Award Winner Alicia Keys is back with a strong sophomore effort. I love the way she phrases the lyrics in her songs. She sings about the different aspects of being in love so well. Her voice is smooth, sexy and soulful. My favorite song on this album is You Don't Know My Name, because I like the idea of a woman making the first move on a man she really likes.I love the way Alicia sings the track Heartburn. This song has a lot of energy, and it made me want to move around and dance. Diary is another stand out track in my opinion. It is a great song about having someone in your life who you can trust to tell your secrets and is loyal to you. I also loved the song If I Aint Got You. I think this song is a reminder that material things don't really bring you lasting satisfaction and The only thing that matters in life is having someone to love. Slow Down is an excellent song about trying to slow down in a relationship and getting to know the person you are attracted to. I really enjoyed listening Diary of Alicia Keys. She is a true talent who will be around for many years.
Free Music Review: Alicia Keys is pure class! Hit: 5 Stars
Alicia Keys is a talented artist, nobody can take that away from her. However, I got this album and her 1st and just really got to listen and appreciate her music!
I was an R&B fan but didn't appreciate old school flavor (What was I thinking?") I only listened to her singles but my eyes opened.
The Diary of Alicia Keys is a soulful journey for fans of good R&B music. The album creates a great atmosphere thanks to Alicia's skillz on her piano. Alicia Keys vocals may not be on Mariah, Christina, or Beyonce's but it isn't necessary. Alicia doesn't have to use a lot of runs or show her voice to get her point across. She creates a mood with her songs that pull you into pain, joy, or urgency of some situation.
This album is very consistent and soulful, something many artist don't do... and she writes all her songs!
My favorite joints have to be: Diary, If Ain't got you, KArma, You don't know my name, So Simple, and Slow Down.
Kudos to Alicia for daring to step out the box and realize you don't have to oversing or do complex dance steps to establish yourself as an artist!
Free Music Review: I LOVE HER! Hit: 5 Stars
This girl just comes out with the best songs. Every song on here makes me want to hit the repeat button and listen to this all day and all night long. I'm not infatuated with Alicia to the point where it blinds me to see her talent. She has an amazing voice and great music. You wouldn't recognize that Timbaland produced "Heartburn" but that's beside the point. Every track seemlessly flows from one another and the fact that she left the part where she talks on the phone to Mos Def in "You Don't Know My Name" is nothing but genius. Many would have taken that out. Keeping the piano in the album is a major plus. I'm glad she didn't abandon the part of her that makes her unique. "If I Ain't Got You" has so much emotion throughout the song it makes you feel her pain. The video accents the song well. Not to mention she is a beautiful woman, the way she half braids her hair is so creative. She makes it look good. I hope her next single is "Wake Up" or "Karma", but any song would make me happy and you as well. Keep on keepin' on Alicia!
Free Music Review: 1 of 2004's best R&B albums yet Hit: 5 Stars
R&B in 2004 has definitely inproved from R&B in 2003 where Beyonce's "Dangerously In Love" & Luther Vandross' "Dance With My Father" were clearly the best R&B albums of that year. Both albums took home no less than 4 Grammys early this year. "The Diary Of Alicia Keys" will definitely do the same. It was released just before 2004 arrived and will definitely take home its number of well-deserved accolades. It is one of the best R&B albums of 2004 and I definitely will give it 5 stars because it is well deserved. This album is one of my favorites this year. My favorite songs are:1. Karma 2. Heartburn 3. You Don't Know My Name 4. Diary 5. If I Ain't Got You 6. Dragon Days If you are a fan of R&B, you should definitely have this album in your collection. Other albums released in late 2003-present that I recommend. The following R&B albums are my predictions for Grammy wins next year: "Soulful" - by Ruben Studdard "Confessions" - by Usher
Free Music Review: Good from start to finish... Hit: 5 Stars
I absolutely love this album. I enjoyed her debut album Songs in A Minor but I fell in love with this album after listening to it the first time.
The production is solid, the songs are well written and Alicia has never sounded better vocally. The intro, Harlem's Nocturne doesn't prepare the listener for what he/she hears next. The first two songs Karma and Heartburn are funky and upbeat and yet remain true to Alicia's love for 70's soul.
You Don't Know My Name, If I Ain't Got You (the best song) and Diary are great, heartfelt ballads with a real soulful feel.
My second favourite song is When You Really Love Someone. Next time you listen to it, listen closely to the words and feeling the song evokes. Truly touching and emotional.
I don't know if Alicia can top the success of this album. This is solid from start to finish and I can never get enough of it. It has been in my CD magazine since I bought it and I have no plans of shelving it anytime soon. Get out there and buy it if you haven't already...
