Free Music Review: Do not hestiate to take a peek into this diary!
Hit: 5 Stars

Two years ago, it was Alicia Keys madness here in the United States of America. She won tons of Grammys, "Fallin'", the first single off Ms. Key's debut album, "Songs In A Minor" was being played every twenty minutes on the radio, etc., etc. Clearly, everyone and his grandmother thought that Alicia Keys was the best thing since sliced bread. I attempted to join this craze. For Easter 2002, I recieved "Songs In A Minor". Being eleven at the time, the whole album went way over my head. I remember enjoying "Girlfriend" and "Jane Doe", the faster and poppier songs of the bunch, but pretty much slept through the rest. Anyway, when Alicia released "Diary", I was determined not to get sucked into the hype. However, one day after seeing Alicia on some morning talk show, my mother asked why I hadn't asked for this album for Christmas. I figured, "What the heck?", and told her I'd love to have it. Anyway, I started listening to "Songs In A Minor" again in mid December. Being thirteen now, I enjoyed it a little more. But as I started listening to it more and more, I realized that it is actually a great album. Two years ago, my collection was full of that Britney and N'Sync crap, but now it is full of people like Beyonce, Mya, and Mary J. Blige, Ginuwine, and Outkast so my tastes in music had changed greatly. I prepared myself for an excellent album...
and was crushed. I hated "The Diary of Alicia Keys". However, unlike with Songs In A Minor I did not give up. Two days ago, I popped this CD in my player and loved it. The beats are terrific, the lyrics poetic, and Alicia's voice is better than ever. I love Alicia Keys, but I just need some time to get used to her CDs. The same thing will probably happen with her third effort. Many males here have said that this album is to emotional for them and that only women will enjoy it. Well guess what? I'm a teenage guy and I love this CD. My favorite songs are "Karma", "If I was your woman/Walk on By", "You don't know my name", and "If I ain't got you". I enjoy the second half as well. All in all, Ms. Keys is one of the most talented musicians of our generation. Please do not pass up the oppurtunity to enjoy one of the most mature, soulful discs ever!

Free Music Review: Big up to Alicia
Hit: 5 Stars

You know ya'll can't go no wrong on Alicia. 'Cause she's has a wonderful talent to give us since we heard her from the beginning. I think the most thing about her is she's has great talent, a beautiful voice, and most definitely I love to work with in the future, Like to me, I'm 19 years old 'bout to be 20 on the same month when she's dropped her album. Yeah I used to think Alicia was all cool and stuff, But now I'm not, 'Cause I'm a big fan to her music and look forward for her putting albums in the future. First of all, I love the way that she put out that record "You Don't Know My Name" which talks about what if no one new her by any chance or have never even notice her name before since she's been out. And especially I like favorites on the album including Karma (which is doin' ok on the radio airwaves and all of that), Heartburn which is truly a good one, then I like If I Was Your Woman/Walk On By which features the sample from Biggie's "Warning" (Know ya'll heard of him before, it's off his album "Ready to Die") and plus many more favorites like If I Ain't Got You, Diary (a pretty good slow jam), etc.

Now lemme say this, I've first been a fan to her since she put out her first CD which I love entitled "Songs In A Minor". The problem is nobody believe in that record 'cause it has no feel to it at all. I don't understand why ya'll be hatin and/or feelin' this record. 'cause that may her a star when she walk home with 5 Grammys. I've never had a problem listen to the entire album she put on that year. Anyway, long period short, There a lot of songs I don't dislike but one song I would live without is "So Simple" 'cause I wasn't feeling any melody of it or something that wasn't my fav. Wish it'll need more work on it.

Well I'm proud for what she did at the top and 'preciate the kind of success she's receive. I have recently wrote her a letter saying that I'm her biggest fan and will always support her long as she's don't mess up or not. Simple. Anyway, Good job Alicia, Keep up the good work, Look forward of hearing from you one day when u put out another album.

I give it 2 thumbs up 4 that.

Free Music Review: Alicia returns sexier, sassier and more personal than ever
Hit: 5 Stars

After the very critically accalaimed album 'Songs In a Minor', which picked up hundreds of gongs and awards, Alicia Keys has made her anticipated return, with her second studio album entitled 'The Diary Of Alicia Keys'. With her unique blend of beautiful vocals, classical piano beats and quirky rhythms, can this soul diva pull off another classic, or will 'The Diary Of...' dissapoint millions of fans worldwide? Lets take a look...

The first single to be taken from the disc, 'You Don't Know My Name' was regarded somewhat of a dissapointment, despite dreamy lyrics and a cracking piano beat, it certainly had no chance of reaching the success heights of the amazing ballad 'Fallin'. But with this album, Alicia has overcame all the odds and produced a another classic collection of hits. Indeed, 'The Diary Of...' is another masterpiece, which hooks you straight away with the jazzy opening 'Harlems Nocturne', and flows along smoothly to slinky climax 'Nobody Not Really'.

Highlights include emotional piano ballad 'If I Ain't Got You', with beautiful lyrics and a belting chorus. 'Heartburn' is an exciting adrenaline burst with the real diva coming out of Alicia, and 'When You Really Love Someone' almost comes close to repeating the genious of 'Fallin'. 'So Simple' is aided by some cool techno sound effects which make this another standout, and 'Diary', feauturing Tony! Toni! Tone! gets down, dirty and downright more personal than the rest of the album. Other tracks that also impress include 'Dragon Days' and 'Karma', if only to name a couple. The latin groove of 'Samsonite Man' is also superb.

Regarding the rest of the album, tracks along the lines of 'If I Was Your Woman', 'Wake Up', and 'Slow Down' are still by no means bad, but pale in comparison to the classics mentioned above.

Overall, this is an absolutely superb collection of mellow R&B tracks, with a touch of soul in places. Alicia really has worked tremendously hard to outdo her already incredible debut album, and has definately succeeded. The perfect soundtrack to one of those quiet, relaxing weekends, 'The Diary Of Alicia Keys' comes highly recommended.

Free Music Review: The Next Wonder
Hit: 5 Stars

As an avid listener of music, I was astonished by how great The Diary of Alicia Keys was. Alicia not only topped her first album, Songs in A Minor, but she proved herself as a true artist.

I must admit, I was not a real Alicia Keys fan when she first became known, but this CD has definitely changed my views. When public reviews were comparing her to such defined artists as Stevie Wonder, I thought they were insane. I have been proven wrong. Her style, music, and grace are all in a category of their own.

The soul she put into each and every track made it more than easy to listen through the whole CD without skipping any tracks. The catchy beat she rocks throughout the album puts the listener in a trance and makes it possible to step outside of the real world and just flow with the beat. She definitely took a different approach from her first, smooth, mellow sounding album and moved to a classier, original soul, jazzy sound. Alicia has broken down all barriers and taken her abilities to the next level. Without holding back any of the talent her first album lacked, she was able to produce a masterpiece.

I personally am a true fan of the second title off her new album, "Karma." Alicia was able to take the cliché phrase "what goes up must come down," and turn it into a beat defying, vocally jazzy hit. It is only one of the many songs on her album that can truly make your head bob. Another song I found to be extremely entertaining is the cover song "If I Was Your Women," originally by Gladys Knight. She once again developed sweet instrumentals for this song and turned it into an even bigger hit than it already was.

This CD is a must have. Do not create a burned copy of this CD, but go out to stores and buy a real copy, because this is one album worth going out to buy. She proves herself worthy of not only becoming famous, but infamous. There is no doubt in my mind that she will be the next legend of musical history.
