Free Music Review: CAN'T EVER GO WRONG!
Hit: 5 Stars

In my point of view, Alicia Keys is the type of artist that can never go wrong with anything she does. She can sit there and sing about a toilet if she wanted to, and she'd still make it one of the best songs you've ever heard. I mean how many people can pull off talking on the phone in a track and actually make it sound right?...No one but Alicia Keys I'll tell you that much. This Album is just proof that the sophmore jinx isn't happening here. This album is genius. "Karma" is a song that is completely different from anything she's done on her first album. It's rather upbeat and not what you'd expect, aswell as "Heartburn." "Heartburn," is one of my favorite tracks on the CD because it's just something you can really get into and gets you up and going. Now "When you really love someone," is just the realist song. It talks about cold hard facts refering to what a loving relationship should be about, and the wrongs that occur during the relationships when you're just not paying attention. I think people from a lot of different perspectives can listen to Alicia Keys are relate to her, and where's she's coming from, regardless of your gender. She speaks about everyday things that go on in life, emotionally..and everyone deals with them. This Album is nothing short of Amazing, and I truly can't wait to see what she's going to give us next! Rock on Alicia!

Free Music Review: One Of the Real Classics : Put It On, Let it Do Its Thing
Hit: 5 Stars

First of all, this album contains "You Don't Know my Name", "If I was Your Woman", "Karma", and "If I Ain't Got You". I can't think of anything except Janet's 1993 album that has so many classic tracks one after the other. One of my favorites remains the album opener (I love how Alicia always has a quiet piano intro that breaks into a big song).

However, moving past the obviously amazing singles, there is much here to drool over. 'Samsonite Man' in particular - there is something very unique about that track. When most people think of this CD, they almost always remember "If I was Your Woman" first, but I would say that I personally think of "Dragon Days" first - its a slow burner, but when it hooks you in, it really never lets go.

Alicia Keys made a better album on "Unplugged" (she has never sounded better before or after that album), but as a studio album, this will always be my favorite Keys album. There is something special about it, you can just put it on ANY time of day, let it play and do its' thing, and it will never disappoint you. Her debut album is certainly not 'timeless', but this one definitely is.

If you are at all into collecting classic R&B records, then this has to be in your collection already. If you're new to the scene, there are very few albums on Amazon with so much repeat value. Get this today!

Free Music Review: Hands down the best soul album of 2003
Hit: 5 Stars

Alicia Keys' latest album is one of the most impressing CD in 2003 when there have been mostly disappointments. It takes all the things that made Songs in A Minor such an appealing album and improved it by 100 percent while adding new sounds and new rhythmns. Who would have thought that Alicia would be making a classic retro song with Timbaland of all people? While her up tempo tracks like Karma, Heartburn, and So Simple show that Alicia can truly be a hip hop/r&b leader like Mary J. Blige, it's her true SOUL music where she shines. If I Ain't Got You is a song that will bring tears to your eyes when you hear it for the very first time with its raw emotion and stunning arrangements. Diary, probably the best song on the album is an amazing track with a male/female call and answer section likely to make you want to hit the repeat button again and again. Wake Up is another song that brings Alicia to the roots of soul when most R&B artists nowadays make generic homogenized crap. The compositions have improved, as well as the lyrics when Alicia used to overly belt out song songs on her first album. Just overall a much better effort than her first one, which was already very above average.

Favorite songs:
- Karma
- If I Ain't Got You
- Diary
- Wake Up

Free Music Review: Soulful/Passionate/Heartfelt
Hit: 5 Stars

This CD is amazing. Alicia captures so much from the listener with the passion and emotion that she put into this CD. All of the tracks are amazing and it's definitely a CD that you can listen to the whole way through. Everybody should have The Diary Of Alicia Keys in their CD collection because even if your not feeling it right now, it will definitely grow on you and that's a promise. This young lady has a lot of talent and if you don't have Songs In A Minor or The Diary Of Alicia Keys, then you are definitely missing out on something and someone that is going to be here for years to come. There's something for everyone on the album whether you are into hip-hop, rnb, soul music, funk, a little classical, or jazz. She combines all of those sounds and elements and creates something that is totally unique and totally hers. Listen to the music, study it, critique it, analyze it, but most of all enjoy it. Her music can be studied, from the instruments, the emotion, and the differnt styles mixed together. Can't say that about a lot of other artists. Don't miss out on a good thing because I promise that you won't be disappointed. Support true rnb and soul music. An artist like this is very rare to find.
