Free Music Review: IN THE KEY OF SOUL
Hit: 5 Stars

Miss Keys is sure to become a legend in her own time. It is so rare in this completely saturated cesspool of vapid pop songs that an amazing and truly magnificent talent like Miss Keys emerges unscathed by the current trends. She is a gifted songstress, lyricist, and musician with an undeniable power to evoke the strongest passions. Her voice soars with gorgeous grace through each song, making the album a beautiful compilation of soul stirring. Miss Keys has done right by the greats of R&B like Marvin, Aretha, Stevie and Donnie. Like each one of these profound soul stirrers, Alicia has a raw combination of desire and pain that accents every song. She's just got that magic, that ability to make you groove to each hypnotic melody. Songs like "Heart Burn" "You Don't Know My Name" "Karma" and "Diary" are evident of her capacity to channel the ancient spirits of soul. The entire album may not be perfect but there's even beauty in that. It deserves five stars for Miss Keys efforts alone. She has created an album with such passionate chemistry that it reminds us of a time when people actual sang about the joys and pains of love and actually meant it.

...He actually had the nerve to say that Ashanti is a better artist than Alicia Keys. Well he has obviously never heard her sing live b/c she sounds awful. She is basically a black Britney Spears whose popularity is based mainly on sex appeal. As for Alicia Keys being overhyped-- that may be true but she deserves all of it. Not only can she sing amazingly, she does it while playing the piano (which is extremely hard to do). I saw her concert for her first album and it was great. Even though I didn't like her first cd much, hearing her perform them makes you want to go back and give some songs a second try. Oh and by the way she doesn't sit down at the piano the entire time. She actually gets up and dances.I think people are too quick to judge both her and her second album which is way better than the first. It's one of those cds you have to listen to a couple of times before you really like it but its well worth it. Check out the songs You Don't Know My Name, Diary, If I Ain't Got You, Feelin You, Feelin Me, Samsonite Man, Slow Down, Wake up and track 11 (can't remember the name). And don't just listen to her voice, listen to the music as well and I know you will alos become a fan.

Free Music Review: Truly A Living Legend
Hit: 5 Stars

Now what can I say about this cd... it's GREAT! Alicia Keys has done it again. Her sophomore cd, "The Diary of Alicia Keys" definitely lives up to its expectations after her smash hit debut album "Songs In A Minor". Her soulful voice and tremendous talent on the piano add up to one great artist. My favorite songs on this cd are:
Karma
If I Was Your Woman
If I Ain't Got You
You Don't Know My Name
Diary
Slow Down
Wake Up
Nobody, Not Really
Feeling You, Feeling Me
...these are just the songs I give 10's to, the rest are all at least 9's!! Although I must say, I really loved the slow melodious songs on her first cd, "Songs In A Minor", like "Troubles", "Never Felt This Way (Interlude)", "Butterflies" "Goodbye" "Loving You"... but on her 2nd cd she kind of hyped up the beats a little more, not as slow as her first cd (which I personally love), but nonetheless it's still a wonderful cd!
This cd is a must have for fans of real soulful RnB music. A masterpiece. A great cd to just play and rock back to. Also, get her debut cd "Songs In A Minor" if you don't already have it, it's even better!

Free Music Review: Unique, elegant, Alicia is the real thing!
Hit: 5 Stars

As a professional musician and teacher of many genres of music,
I check out many albums all the time, and tire of the many
female vocalists who all begin to sound too similar, too
contrived, set up with the same hip hop loops and samples, and
the same meaningless lyrics. Alicia Keys is a blessing with
real talent and a completely refreshing sound. Her voice is
rich and rarely needs multiple overdubs to cover vocal weak-
nesses as Janet Jackson, Britney, Brandy, and endless other
pop and r&b female singers do. Her acoustic piano is a
beautiful sound that gives her old school soul/r&b mixed
with hip hop a down to earth back to basics sound that has
become rare these days with over production and over techno
push button drums and synths. Her hits "You Don't Know
My Name", "If I Ain't Got You" and "Diary" are wonderful,
but every other tune on the album is well done also and will
grow on you with every play. Get this album, it is well
worth the money, and will outlast all those other trendy
CDs people wish they hadn't bought on impulse!

Free Music Review: The Diary of a Legend....
Hit: 5 Stars

If you are looking for a fusion of r&b meets classical meets soul meets hip hop, look no further than "The Diary of Alicia Keys." The young musical prodigy has done it again. This time, we get a more intimate sense of the woman behind the keys........This woman has grown since "Songs in 'A'Minor," and it is evident, both musically and lyrically.

We get a taste of Keys' technical versatility, as a classically trained pianist, with the intro, "Harlem's Nocturne." Keys moves gracefully between r&b riffs and popular classical tunes, adding flavor and edge as she progresses. This intro guides us gracefully through the pages of this woman's musical diary. Whether she is spurning a selfish lover ("Karma"), encouraging emotional intimacy in a companion ("Diary"), or elaborating on her idea of a foundation for love ("When You Really Love Someone"), we are graced with the privilige of glimpsing her inner most thoughts.

"Diary" succeeds to showcase Alicia Keys' talent as a musician, songwriter and poet. This is someone who will inspire many little girls to keep taking those piano lessons!
